For date ladoos , we can substitute cashew with almonds( cashews have some bad cholestrol while almonds are so much good for health . even sesame or flex seeds add too much nutritional value , both have good ldl n antioxidants & so do almonds

veer ji ,

if you have blood sugar issues or digestive issues this combination is bad news high fats and sugar not so good best to combine nuts with veggies

JKV sis, Not one ingerdient I suggest is health hazard, foe low sugar contents we can use shakkar ( powdered gur) , cashew has high contents of hdl thats reason i suggest substitutes having high cintents of fibre and ldl ( low density lipids - good for body) . In india we use lot of til ladoos in winter b'cause it helps us fight cold weather. A mixture of powdered tils ( sesame seeds roasted and pounded ) and gur is good cheap healthy and tasty snack of winters in this part of world.

Veer ji ,

what it is , the high fat content keeps the high blood sugar level up longer than desirable ...whenever we eat it goes up but ideally we want it to taper off after an hour or so not stay high>> bad for organs and cholestorol levels , as insulin prevents excess calories to be stored in fat cells so stays in blood stream.

Yep til de ladoo are nice better mineral profile than caju , I like adding raw til into my almond milk recipe for calcium ...

since it's cold and dark outside how about a nice steaming bowl of Maestro Minestrone....

I was reading about Leonardo da Vinci , aparently he too was a veggie and his fave was minestrone ...typically 'I made it buttal bhar ke' as my lot love love it so much , it is good for when you are busy as you can cook a big batch and others can heat and eat no probs ...

I make enough for 20 servings but I'll give you recipe for about 6 generous servings

good quality olive oil

onion finely diced

2 garlic cloves peeled and minced

fresh or frozen Basil in fine pieces

dried oregano

3 sticks celery cut into fine dice

3 medium carrots peeled and cut into fine dice

3 medium potatoes peeled and diced into cm sized cubes

3 courgettes peeled and diced into small pieces

1 tin of borlotti beans in water, drained and rinsed

3 tomatoes diced finely

1/2 small savoy cabbage shredded finely

some shavings of parmesean style veggie cheese (sainsburys basics have one which is perfect for pasta and this)

small handful of rice or small pasta shapes

freshly ground black pepper and salt to adjust to taste

some veggie stock/bouillon I like Marigold brand, there is also vegan version make up using freshly boiled water

1.first fry off the garlic in Olive oil until starting to golden add onion until softened and starting to change colour

2. add celery and carrots with oregano and black pepper cook until sweated

3. add potatoes cook until starting to soften

4. add chopped tomatoes and basil cook a little to deglaze pan a little

5, add courgettes cook for a couple of minutes , make stock from boiling water and add to pan

6. add savoy cabbage, rice/pasta and beans.

7. get to boil , then turn down and simmer for twenty minutes , add cheese if putting...then keep on simmering until all ingredients have cooked , taste and adjust seasoning .

If we have blood diabetes, if we have cardiac problem, renal maladies, allergies, skin problem, thyroid, arthritis, plus any other serous problem we should have only aromatic air & nothing else. Right sis JKV? I am only joking . Serious side, whatever Ishare are all health food additions for a normal body.Even cholesterols are basic reqyirements on our body tissues as our cell membranes are made from this substance only. Daily requirements are around 1-3 grams. We can refer to medic literature available to know bad & good cholestrol .
