Drinking Bhang is a deviation on the part of the Nihangs. Drinking Bhang is not a Guru created tradition. But over time this deviancy crept into the Sikh ranks. I suspect it must have originally been

No conspiracy veerji. Many innovations and deviations have crept into the Nihangs. Some amrit sanchaars of the Nihangs, they would administer a different Amrit to the so called lower castes. If this i

On a practical level...bhang was used on the battlefiled in puratan times to numb the pain from an injury and to ensure a speedy recovery due to it being high in anti-oxidants. It had a practical use

During battle one needs to be alert not high on a drug. Just look at the best armies in the world today, soldiers are allowed to drink during their free time, but certainly not during battle because a drunk soldier would be a liability and a very clumsy shot.

bro you cant compare warfare of today with that of the ancient world...

you speak of drunk soldiers...but you seem to forget one of the most successful armies and empire in the world..the mongol empire...their warriros before battle would drink fermented mares milk...im not encouraging alcohol..but im saying each warrior culture had their own substances in their traditions to enhance their warrior capabilities

Before talking about bhang etc and first become a brahmgayani then ask these questions. Most of these people asking want to pretend like hardcore nihangs or taksalis.

IF you need bhang Akaalpurkh maharaj will tell you to.

There are no mentions in gurbani or guru gobind Singh ji's banis etc talking about consumption of bhang.

So let's forget about about bhang for now okay.

Two great Jathedars in the Dal Panth

First one is of Akaali Baba Hanuman Singh Ji, The 7th leader of the Budha Dal, Who became shaheed fighting the British ... and we all all know who the one in the second pic is

Yep, that picture has always took my breath away. They have a huge picture of Baba Hanuman Singh Ji outside of Chandigarh Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan.

Sadly due to family stuff I couldn't go. Was dying to go.

While we're on the subject, does anyone have the picture of the Singhs surrounding Baba Deep Singh Ji?

Kardtor Singh Ji Shaheed

----

Also, I was always under the impression Baba Hanuman Singh ji shaheed was just the caretaker of Misl Shaheedan and Jathedar of Akaal Takhat like Akali Phoola Singh. At the time, if i'm not mistaken, Budha Dal was not around. Is it right to assume that Budha Dal evolved into what it is today.

Almost all the Nihang Singhs were killed after the last stand when the British attacked Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib. 30-40,000 Nihang Singhs were killed during this attack. Each and every single Nihang Singh in Punjab fought to their last breath which is insane.

No conspiracy veerji. Many innovations and deviations have crept into the Nihangs. Some amrit sanchaars of the Nihangs, they would administer a different Amrit to the so called lower castes. If this isn't an innovation what is? Same way their ritual Bhang and meat consumption is a part of this innovation and deviation. Just look at their Dastars. If one were to look at Nihang Dumallas a 100 years ago they were different and if you go back 100 year even before that they were even more different. So to say Nihangs of today are unchanged for the last 300 years is simply not true, sad fact is changes do happen.

Firstly you want ekta between nihangs and the rest etc, how do you expect that when you point fingers at maryada of nihangs and say its deviated and pakhand, good luck with that ekta then

And secondly bro your exmple of dumalle design changing is poor. The Nihangs have kept the rehat of oocha bunga, to keep chakar and kharag in their dumalle. I agree the design has changed slighly but it still sticks to guidlines of rehat. As their is no hukam to what shape your oocha bunga/dumalla should be. Nihangs have never and will never change puraatan rehat maryada, yes thing naturally change but nihangs have always clinged to rehat, they have not altered it, until you provide me with concrete evidence otherwise it is just a baseless conspiracy. The use of Sukh Nidhaan is from the time of the Guru and it has not changed, you can argue to what extent it should be consumed and when but fact is fact...Sukh Nidhaan was a tradition practised by puraatan akaali khalsa and will continue to be practised by their akaali descendants. You can disagree with it, but this tradition will remain. I dont agree this tradition is for all sikhs btw, only for akaalis who are living a chakarvarti lifestyle

And i agree with you, Nihangs need to go back to their former character. It will happen slowly, things will take time

    • The biggest problem is when we start introducing Dhils to Rehit, and I’ll just say the moment we as a Panth allow Dhils to be in the Rehit, is when we become weaker as Sikhs.
    • also the kar sewa babey destroyed the similar wall adornments in gurudwara Baba Atal Rai
    • If we look at Sikh Rehat 2 things should be noted. First, no alcohol allowed. Second, 4 kakkar are not allowed to leave the body, even for a second!  Let's just say the Gurus decided and gave a figure. We're allowed to consume half a glass (e.g. 250ml) of beer once a week, containing no more than 5% in alc volume. And four kakkars, let's assume Dasah Patsha stated "Four can be parted from you at a distance of 1.5 meters."  Now today, we can guess why the measurement are absolute zero. The rehat states ZERO TOLERANCE! The alcohol consumption would have been edited to "5 glass per seven days it's ok to get tipsy, Thas what Maharaj is saying" and departure from kakkar would have been "150 yards..." We Sikhs EASILY would have fooled and edited measurements!!!  The Gurus knew this. Today our actions are evidence to my opinion. So the Guru has certainly not given us any unit of measurement as we're unworthy of it.
    • I understand your concern, kada being displayed. Kada should have not been displayed at all.  As for the music, a UK muslim bringing back traditional style instruments in punjabi music? Now thas a big wow! (Ok, maybe not lyrics but all lyrics do head towards lusting anyways) so I stopped listening to all songs long ago.
    • Former Cong. MP charged with murder in 1984 anti-Sikh riots - The Hindu Former Cong. MP charged with murder in 1984 anti-Sikh riots   NEW DELHI: , DECEMBER 07, 2021 22:27 IST UPDATED: DECEMBER 08, 2021 04:08 IS Noting that an unlawful assembly or a mob of several thousand persons armed with deadly weapons like dandas (sticks) and iron rods was present at the spot with the common object of resorting to large-scale looting, arson and destruction of the property of Sikhs, a Delhi court has framed charges of murder against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in connection with the death of a father-son duo during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The order was passed by Special Judge M.K. Nagpal, who framed charges against Kumar under provisions for murder, attempt to culpable homicide, and rioting, among others. The deceased were identified as Jaswant Singh and Tarun Deep Singh. The court, however, dropped the charges under attempt to murder and destruction of evidence. According to the family of the deceased, a mob led by Kumar burnt the two men alive, and also set their house on fire, on November 1, 1984. Kumar is already lodged in jail after he was convicted in another murder case pertaining to the 1984 riots. The judge noted that there was sufficient evidence to show that Kumar was not only a participant in the mob which killed the deceased persons and set their house on fire, but was also leading it. The court noted that its view regarding Kumar’s participation in the mob was much stronger, and the allegations, along with the material, gave rise to “grave suspicion”.
