Sikh Federation UK splits, Bhai Charan Singh, Bhai Kuldeep Singh Chaheru leave

It is always disappointing when individuals leave an organisation to set up another organisation. This is true of Bhai Charan Singh leaving the Sikh Federation (UK). There can be all sorts of pressures exerted on individuals when they decide to leave to set up something new. It was interesting watching the programme last night on the Sikh Channel about the new organisation and how it will focus on Dharam (great), but I was surprised by the negative/dangerous comments about Rajneete, given what our Gurus have said about the need for Raj.

However, the most important thing is having a new organisation promoting Dharamic issues is no bad thing, but more importantly the work of the Sikh Federation (UK) will continue as the aims and objectives (including establishing a Sikh homeland) and history of the organisation that can be traced back to Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji and the legacy of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji (attack by the Indian army on the Darbar Sahib Complex laying the foundation stone for a Sikh homeland) are much more important than any number of individuals.

The Sikh Federation (UK) as part of the International Coalition for a Sikh Homeland is entering into an interesting phase regarding progress towards a Sikh homeland, so it makes it even more interesting this announcement of a new organisation is happening now. Suspect as we make even more progress to a Sikh homeland new challenges will emerge, but strangely we should see this also as a positive sign.

GO SIKH FEDERATION!!!

will be there on Sunday.

the annual converntion of the SIkh Federation is this Sunday at Sedgely St Gurdwara, please attend and watch, you dont have to be part of the SF to learn about it, or the sterling work they have been doing throughout the year.

Young SIkhs especially should attend as they will learn so much from it.

Does anyone else find it bit odd that the 2 events (sedgley street & tividale) are set for same day?

welcome to dirty politics in the sikh world 2012. Note how the Sikh Channel entered this row by showing the new jatha's launch yday. I get the feeling that the channel is somewhat enjoying seeing the federation split, seeing as it jumped ship when Sangat TV was created. It seems like the Sikh Channel v Sangat TV battle isnt finished, as Sangat TV had listed "Sikh Federation UK" at 8pm as the jatha was on 840. I might also hazard a guess that Sikh Channel will be showing Tividale program on sunday at the exact same time as Sangat TV will be showing sikh federation from wolves. There is a deep game being played here. I wonder if Sangat TV will be up to its old tricks this year when it comes to the microphone mute button lol

Has anyone seen the constitution or the aims and objectives of the DharamYudh Jatha (Damdami Taksal)?

Setting up the new organisations seems a bit rushed. You would expect at least the aims and objectives to be shared and some indication given of the work that will be carried out. Was unsure watching the Sikh Channel programme if they had worked out a structure and working methods in time for the launch in a few days time. The main objective seems to have been lets launch the new organisation on the same day as the Sikh Federation (UK) Convention, which many will see as being petty and short sighted in terms of creating divisions.

Some have asked is it right for an organisation to use the name of Damdami Taksal and who is the new organisation linked to in terms of the Damdami Taksal - Baba Harnam Singh, Amrik Singh Ajnala, Ram Singh etc.

As for the involvement of the Sikh Channel - for the last 12 months or more you see some of those on the show openly criticising the channel - especially on Gurdwara stages around Europe and now they are praising the channel for providing support. The channels will do what is in their interests, but the signs are not good if those that appear to be 'leading' the DharamYudh Jatha (Damdami Taksal) are prepared to say one thing from Gurdwara stages and then change their minds when appearing on the channel. Did they not mean what they said in the presence of Guru Grath Sahib Ji?

It definitley is not linked in any way to Baba Harnam Singh.

Wasn't itc actually Kuldeep Singh Chaheru who was very outspoken in his negative comments against Sikh Channel & Bal?

Although this topic has Kuldip Singh's name in the title and the Sikh Channel scroll and poster also use his name and number it is unclear if he will or will not be part of this new organisation or if he will remain in the Sikh Federation (UK). He did not take part in the Sikh Channel programme.
