Rubbing nose?

Gurfateh ji,

This is going to sound super strange but I went to the Gurdwara and when some people do matha tekh they rub their nose? Is there a reason for this or any significance?

I personally think that nose for some denotes hankaar/haumai/ego, as in, those with arrogant pride keep their noses held high. Therefore those who submit before Guru Sahib do it as a mark of shedding away their ego at His feet.

Just my thoughts, please correct.

some rub their noses and foreheads, place their palms upside down, some hold out their hand like musalmaans...who knows why?

Its a personal thing. However you feel your best connected. Or how you want to show your devotion to your Guru Sahib...

Some matha tekh n walk backwards before sitting down so they dont put their back towards Guru Sahib. Some do a parikarma...

My cousins grandma used to do a 'soorya namaskar' (i think thats what its called). She would lay flat on her face with arms stretched out, hands meeting before Guru Sahib. As kids we used to laugh coz it seemed so odd but that was just her sharda. And for those who laughed and mocked her, she was willing to put up with that.

This comes from a punjabi expression "Naak Ragarna". Term used for begging.

Nak ragarna, is a sign of begging, but this in front of Guru Sahib, is also a sign of humility.

There is also Dandout namaskar, but i have only ever seen 2 people do this in gurdwara, and they were both Hindus.
