WJKK WJKF, thats a good question. I'll give you a small example which is sort of related to what your asking although it would be better if a knowledgeable Gursikh answers your question.

Its about the Sant who is mentioned in my signature. Sometimes they would get so absorbed into the Naam and would be in a state of samaadhi before they had even tied their dastaar, hence, in most old photographs and the odd painting Sant Ji is always without a dastaar and their kes is flowing.

One has to remember nitnem in actual tat spiritual sense- nit(everyday/every moment)nem(naam) not the typical sgpc type of nitnem where one performs 5 namaza/panj baniya in amrit vela and take blanket(favourite line from sant jarnail singh khalsa bhindranwale speeches), after forget all about it and sleep or carry on with normal duties.

So the actual nitnemi are the ones whose mindset attune to ajapa jap going on 24/7 and in samadhi state, rest are all baby nitneemis (including me) who just flirts with the idea of nitnem or sometime wrap the head around the ritual of nitnem so so much that itself becomes roadblock and updesh given by guru nanak dev nirankar to typical qazis/mullah regarding panj namaza applies to them..!!

i thought i just set the record straight here..!!

I need to break free from the shackles of my '5 namaazah' as well and get attuned to the good stuff!

Nothing is good or bad, its just start meditating on vahiguroo mantar or mool mantar /japji to transcendent or advance even one can meditate on panj baniya and transcedent given the fact its not ritualistic..thats all...!!

it makes me so mad!

If we actually absorbed the Bani and properly concentrated on it instead of making it a ritual or "5 naamazah" krodh wouldnt be as much of a problem.

Yeah, that's what the aim is. It's tough but it has to be done.

Although the "it makes me mad" is more a turn of phrase on my part than a statement declaring I'm walking around in a rage, lol.

Lol yeah i get you. I meant generally, not you personally Ji. People just rush through Nitnem and wait for the panj chorr to disappear as if they've take a dose of medicine. Thing is though, they didnt read the directions for use!
