as long as u dont MEAN it in a certain way u can do it. like if someone stuck up their middle finger but didnt know what it meant then that should be fine. the things we do and say dont always have the same depth in meaning. like if u say "i 'love' that guy" u may have any level of "love" towards something

mkhalsa, do you remember the singh who did simran with me after the Hayward Rean subaaee 03?

This Singh was so humble that when I was introduced to him, he just clinged to my feet and then he hugged me and said "Gursikhaa Ki Harr thoor de ham paapi bhee gaat paae!!!"

It was just awesome and it felt so good after doing simran with him!

Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh

I do agree with vicky singh veer abt the metha tekna issue.

But if somebody on the one hand doing peri pehna to elders and on the other way not respecting them that way peri pehna is only formality and hypocracy.

Wud request sikh for life veerjee to think lil. bit more over cleaning shoes in jorha ghar.

I know in Gurud. Bangla Sahib and others in Delhi where sangat do polishing, cleaning of shoes and even they kept most of the shoemaker stuff to repair the torn shoes, replace lasses etc.

Sangat contribute and purchase some spare shoes n sleepers for the sangat who either lost their shoes by keeping it outside or to replace those with poor ppl shoes who can not buy new one.

For a sikh seva means learning humbleness not only in the gurudwara sahib or with fellow sikh but with every body and everywhere in the life e.g. if somebody happily serving or cleaning utensils but in the house not even taking one single plate or helping mother or wife as per the need/ requirment saying eh sada kaam nahi is actually hypocracy.

bhul chuk maaf

Well, I have been brought up with traditional Punjabi family values. So when I see elderly relatives, or my friends’ grandparents I usually touch there knees out of respect and say “Sat Sri Akal” or “Fateh”, and they out of respect touch me on the head or shoulders. I don’t really see anything wrong with it…

Waheguroo..sometimes that love overcomes you and you just want to embrace the veer/bhain next to you. I remember seeing one of my very close veers in Sangat doing keertan and after he was done, I could see the radiance all over his face..I just rushed towards him, gently kissed his keski and shared a sweet brother-sister hug.

Also, Manjot Veerjee Jee...yes I AGREE...It is NOT Metaphorical, Guru Jee wrote this as our guidance, our hukams, and instruction. By touching someone's feet, or obtaining the dust of Sangat' feet is not pooja..WHy else do we go to Sangat, to Gurdwara Sahib?..We go to obtain Charaan Door!! Guru Jee talks about Charaan Door in such esteem, if it were pooja or just a metaphor, why would it be mentioned in this way & with such frequency?

Cleaning shoes a waste of time??? I think it takes much pure love & of course nimrita in their hearts to do this. Our Guru Jee's did all of these after all, they lived out the guidance and instructions we have in front of us today..Can we not do this as well??..

I don't feel worthy entering Gurdwara Sahib without first having the mahaan kirpa to place my forehead on the steps and having the dust of my Sangat's feet..waheguroo..there is nothing sweeter..Charan Door--the most exquistie gift of the UNIVERSE--

Indeed Veerjee..."Gursikhaa Ki Harr thoor de ham paapi bhee gaat paae!!!"...

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
