History Of Ashtbhuja Dhuja - Battle Standard of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji

Recommended Posts

What proof is there that the Astbhuja is of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and not a piece made in the 1800s? Hazoor Sahib wasn't created until Nihangs left Punjab and went to Hazur Sahib during British time.

Also, why is it that all the real shastar of Guru Sahiban are at either Akaal Takhat Sahib or Anandpur Sahib?

You are wrong. Sikhs have been around abchalnagar nowadays known as nanded since joti joth of 10th guru sahib.

Provide proof please? I don't doubt this, but Hazur Sahib was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, so it was a bit prior to the British. Even if Sikhs were there since the Joti Jot of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, it doesn't negate my other point mentioned in the latter part of my post and this:

How come nothing of this shastar is mentioned or showcased at the Akaal Takhat Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Damdama Sahib or the small pind next to Damdama Sahib where the father/son's house is (the two Singhs who begged to be used as target practice for Guru Gobind Singh Ji's new rifle, but one of Guru Sahib's soldier had backed down).

They have so many shastar of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, but nothing like the asthbhuja. Something similar to the asthbhuja (smaller) is seen on Nihang Singh dastaran in contemporary paintings, but nothing like this battlestandard.

The Dhaal, Sri Sahib and katar are seen everywhere so the story of this being the battle standard I feel is most likely partly not true.

I don't know about the shaster etc. but for a fact there is much katha on the history of sachkand hazur sahib. Maharaja ranjit Singh built it pakka, before it was not.

it is said we should all do Yatra there once in our lives ideally before 60. 60 cos in those day only could travel on foot or horse so older people could not go. Maharaja ranjit Singh himself went there on Yatra and when he saw gurdwara sahib commissioned the building work. Iam on my phone so can't type much.

I really, really want to go as well. Last time I went I tried my hardest to go, but parents didn't budge (was first time we all went as a family so we had to meet family and all that waste of time stuff). They regret not going now though.

Anyways, I don't doubt the history of Hazoor Sahib at all, but I do question that the asthbhuja was indeed the battlestandard of Guru Gobind SIngh Ji and was more of a recent thing.

I feel there is a lot of mixing up of history going on when there aren't historical pieces/sources mentioned.

I have no idea regarding the Asthbhuja. I went with my family and folks a few years back, I spoke to many people there including the guys in the offices they told me some sikh history and the history off the area. I was never into sikhi prior to this Yatra and the darshan we payed at the other historic gurdwareh in Punjab.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
