Akali Dal leader arrested for allegedly murdering Punjab cop who protested daughter's harassment

The Akali Dal used to make sure its candidates followed Rehit Marayada or in most cases were Amritdhari. Ever since the Badal Dal changed from a Sikh party to a Punjabi party back in 1995 at the Moga conference things have gone down hill. This Akali is cleanshaven and sounds as if he was up to no good.

The last post seems to imply that a keshdhari Sikh is less likely to do perverted stuff. Have you ever spoken to girls who've gone back home? If you did you'll soon find that this notion is false.

I don't think that was implied, he is only making a reference to how the rules of the party have changed. Please don't deviate the thread.

Women are even unsafe on the parikarma of the Harmandir Sahib!

This year I spotted a suspicious group of boys (looked about 16-17y olds) whilst in the queue at the Darshan Deori. One was looking at my wife and signalling to his mates and then they tried to move forwards. At that point I made it obvious that I was with her and gave him a mean look. They then sneaked out of the queue - to find their next victim no doubt. At the first barrier I told the elderly sevadar and he said that it always happens - if caught they may get thrashed, but it happens all the time if there is a crush before the first barrier, groups will come like that just to press themselves up against women! Others come to swipe handbags!!!

So true about disgusting acts in parkarma of the Harmandir Sahib... several women I have spoke to have felt harassed and so many people have been pick pocketed. Its such a shame that in such a place you have to protect yourself from being robbed and molested. There is so much crime and stupid behaviour in Darbar sahib even... had a random guy come up to my cousin sister and propose marriage and wouldn't take the hint to go away.... absolute stupidity!

What sucks is that my parents (non-Sikhs) spotted worse stuff at Darbar Sahib this year during Amritvela on the day of Vasakhi.

I have noticed this sadly too often. Punjabi men in India, actually Sikh men/boys have become such perverts that it is really shameful. If a women goes out in India to some Bazaar you will notice all the men/boys will stare at her in such a perverted way like they have never seen a woman in their entire life. By comparison Punjabi Hindus and Muslims are not as bad whether we want to admit it or not.

Punjabi culture today has really degraded to a great extent. While men are increasingly becoming perverts, our girls/ladies are also increasingly wearing revealing clothing. Just compare the punjabi suits of today to 15 years ago. Today's punjabi suits are getting tighter, the neck and back is getting lower and lower, sleeveless arms etc. The chunni no longer is serving it's purpose of covering up a woman since today's Sikh woman barely covers her head or upper body with the Chunni.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
