So Why Sikhs don't have any unity? Please share your input..!

I think the fighting in the thread on kumbh mela demonstrates why we don't have unity!!!

Jad koi Sikh paida hunda (born), ode kan (ear) ch whisper kar dita jaanda hai, tere ton seyana (intelligent) koi hor nahin . That's the reason . Every Sikh is (or at least thinks) himself more intelligent than other. Je koi Sikh koi changa kaam/business/innovative idea leyanda hai, dooja kehnda "Eh ki hai, eh taan main vi kar sakda si, es ton vi better" :) .

I guess its because many from the old generation enjoy having power and money. Look at the gurdwara, fights, smacking paghs off while an akhand path happens, attacking each other with kirpans. I guess it’s because we don't see each other as a family anymore, don't get me wrong, loads of you guys still see each other as brothers and sisters. But, the sad fact is that many Sikhs are jealous of each other. I think the main reason is the gurdwara. The gurdwara should be a place of worship but also a place where Sikhs meet other Sikhs. I think if more activities were run at the gurdwaras, kids could interact with other Sikhs and form bonds. But our gurdware are just for show now. Stick a few pillars and repaint the gurdwara. Job done. Hardly anything is done in the form of activities and classes. Also we pick out differences rather than similarities. Rather than saying "hello fellow Sikh" we might say or "you tie a funny pagh", or "you aren't the same caste as me", even gurdwaras are built and used by people of a certain caste. Like seriously, come on. -.-

in olden times jathas would often engage in simran together for a while before discussing their differences. this is to reduce the influence of the argumentative mind, so people can discuss from a more heart-centered place. the western influence is to take humans from their natural heart-centred way of thinking and instead promote a head (ego) centered way of thinking. However, dharm is a path that required you to lose your head (egoic way of thinking) and instead come from the heart. when a person comes from the heart, there is a softness inside that makes it easier to withstand criticism and have a solution focused orientation. ever notice how when we are criticised sometimes there is this whooosh and all of a sudden the dhian rises up?? it's the inflammation of the ego.

btw, i've also never ever even heard of people from sampradas saying you have to take amrit from our jatha.

I think our Qaum's theme for 2013 has got to be concentrating on what unites us. Eradicating drugs in Punjab, greater Sikhi parchar and gareeba di Seva by the Panth, equalising the male/female gender ratio, ensuring that Sikhs have no separate backgrounds and no separate Gurdware as one United indivisible Panth are some pretty easy aims that all of us can unitedly agree on
