Also the article states that it is an Arabic portrait, yet the portion of Ouseley's book posted by the original

poster calls it an Indian portrait, suggesting that this is not actually the original contemporary arabic painting,

No offense to BhagatBalmik ji and his findings (you are a good researcher) but that picture and description does not fit with the picture of Guru Sahib I have in my mind (Dastaar and full fledged beard) and do not want to imagine otherwise and hope this issue of how did Guru ji look like at those times will resolve some time in the future even if it is not so important to many of us.

People should be neutral/open minded when it comes to historical relics/picture discoveries. We should not put "our own preconceived notions", "our individual beleif mindset' of what Guru Maharaj may have looked like- first than historical evidence of relics/ discoveries of pictures..If we do that, it totally blind us from any objective unbias research/investigative work.

The trend of these pictures is taking us away from the essence of Guru NanakDev Ji. An over-reliance of the purported image of the 10 Gurus is leading us to different avenues than what Guru Ji is essentially telling us.

I know that me like all other Sikhs would have loved to have known what the Guru's looked like, but we are probably going to have face it that no such paintings exist.

Once my relatice was going mad over a painting describing 10th Guru Ji with a gun, calling the painter all kinds of names. Then i asked him about the sakhi of Bhai Dalla. Then he didnt know what to say.

I see no coat and topi!

I can clearly see a dastar and full fledged beard. I believe this is a part of the whole painting which can be found in still in Baghdad and Sant Singh Maskeen Ji had seen it.

This is a blatant fake, looks like a photograph not painting. It's like something from the late 1800s or early 1900s.

In the article it mentions that this story has been written by Giani Gian Singh in his well known historical book "Twareekh Guru Khalsa"

I believe that there are paintings but they have to be verified. The one I mentioned looks like how Bhai Gurdas Ji described guru Sahib when they went to Baghdad and Mecca wearing a blue dress.

Is that the sakhi where Bhai Sahib got ego when he thought Guru Sahib couldn't make a mark on a wooden post he'd made? Then Bhai Sahib got stressed when Guru Ji told him to hold it up whilst Guru Sahib took aim?
