This Shabad is by Bhai Gurdaas Ji in Vaars Bhai Gurdaas on Pannaa 36

neelaaree dhae matt vich pai gidharr rathaa||

ja(n)gal a(n)dhar jaae kai paakha(n)dd kamathaa||

dhar saevai miragaavalee hoe behai avathaa||

karai hakoomath agalee koorrai madh mathaa||

bolan paaj oughaarriaa jio moolee pathaa||

Once a jackal fell into a dyer’s vat and got dyed.

Taking advantage of its changed colour, it went into the jungle and started dissembling (the animals there).

Sitting arrogantly in its lair, it would frighten the deer into serving it.

Intoxicated by false pride it started ruling (over the animals) with great pomp.

As eructation indicates the eating of radish leaf, it also got exposed when it (having listened to the howls of other jackals) also started howling.

Thus, the dissembler out of his own hypocrisies is beaten hollow in the court of the Lord.(2)

NeoSingh Jee, I respect most of your posts, but this topic, I am a bit touchy.

Dancing on Keertan and Vismaad Avastha, I have seen in Nagar Keertan's, I would say especially Delhi Nagar Keertan Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaaj Gurupurab, Keertani Jatha (not the AKJ one, the one in front of Palki Sahib), Granthi Singh Jee age around 80+, used to go in Vismaad Avastha singing and chanting, Dhan Guru Nanak, Keertan, with his feets moving, and literally dancing, face totally red.

I have also seen Marathi Sikhs (in Sehaj Swaroop) in Patna Sahib Gurudwara, bit of dancing, moving forwards and backwards, with Keertan - "Vaho Vaho Gobind Singh Jee", that looked they are in complete love of what they are doing.

I have seen this video as well, Personal opinion - This does not look Vismaad Avastha (I am a Moorakh, don't even do complete Nitnem, so who am I to judge), this looks cheap hippysim, background voice seems to be Snatam Kaur voice. I am not sure whether these people are associated to 3HO or Snatam Kaur or not, but personal opinion again - Spreading Sikhism this way the way they are doing, is it the Gurmat way?

Asa Jee Di Vaar.

Nachan Kuddan man ka chau, Nanak jin man bhou tina man bhau.

See Guru di koi lod nhi si, sikhi di koi lod nhi si je nachan hi seega, eh tan pehla to hi ho reha si, Guru gave us instrument to sing shabad and do keertan but in sehaj vastha, not by dancing, dancing was the style of followers of baba bulleshah, i am not saying dancing is wrong, but guru ne diti sehaj avastha

and the quoet you gave from asa di vaar

its guru explaining man sada bahut nachda hai idhar udhar, never concentrates on NAAm, then guru ji says jina de man vich paramatma da bhou hai ounha de kol hi paramatma vasda hai

Hmm sant maskeen would always recite some farsi/urdu but did never catch on to who he was quoting from.. done a littel research on fakir sarmad ...amazing...another chapter opening up for me in "sikhi"..

another quote from fakir ji...

"My friend, engage your heart in his embrace

and rise to the inner sky

do not forget the words of this devotee:

erase both worlds from your heart."

is fakir ji talking about the two religious and spirit world you (prabhjot)had in you first post...because once your in prem/love(unconditional) theres nothing...just that one bliss

i read some more of his poems in english sooo simple and short yet sooo heart piercing..

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
