Sarmad Fakir was very popular fakir in Islam. He was matyr by fascist Auranzeb.

Here is one of sakhi his encounter with Auranzeb sevak.

According to shariah law, one have to cover their head and cover their body fully all the time. Sarmad fakir was walking down one of the muslim went to Auranzeb and told him you can't control your own people..how can you control the whole india? Auranzeb asked him, what happened? He replied there is this fakir sarmad...he is careless(bai parvah) and doesn't follow shariah law. Auranzeb went to sort out this issue.

Auranzeb was on the elephant. He stopped sarmad fakir and asked him "Fakir ji, you don't have topi or turban on your head and even your body is not covered shariah law doesn't allow that.

Fakir replied with bei parvah tone, are you blind?? can't you see? My khula(topi) has four colors and if one have controlled all the desires, vices..he doesn't need to wear any clothes. His stage is shant/his mind in the peace. Auranzeb responded with humour and said " you don't even have ripped cloth on your head...what colors you have on your topi"?? Fakir responded with calmness..blind people can't see.

I have four colors:

1. Tarakh Duniya : Gave up all the duniya/wordly/materialstic things.

2. Tarakh Ukbah: Gave up all the heaven paradise, different levels of heaven.

3: Tarakh Mullah: Gave up the desire of meeting Allah. Because once you have met him even that desire goes shant.

4. Tarakh- Tarakh Gave up khudi/Ego. Khudi has three layers:

Tamasi Khudi/Tamogani- Consider himself/herself deh(body)..forgotten about the atma and accept the habits of deh(body) which effect atma.

Rajshi Khudi/Rajo Guni - Consider themselves beautiful, successful, confident, smart, intelligent etc.

Shanti Khudi/SatoGuni- Consider themselves saints, bhagat, fakir, pagamvar.

One who has killed all these three types of khudi can say that I have tyag da tyag/tarakh tarakh.

Once a jackal fell into a dyer’s vat and got dyed.

Taking advantage of its changed colour, it went into the jungle and started dissembling (the animals there).

Sitting arrogantly in its lair, it would frighten the deer into serving it.

Intoxicated by false pride it started ruling (over the animals) with great pomp.

As eructation indicates the eating of radish leaf, it also got exposed when it (having listened to the howls of other jackals) also started howling.

Thus, the dissembler out of his own hypocrisies is beaten hollow in the court of the Lord.(2)

NeoSingh Jee, I respect most of your posts, but this topic, I am a bit touchy.

Dancing on Keertan and Vismaad Avastha, I have seen in Nagar Keertan's, I would say especially Delhi Nagar Keertan Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaaj Gurupurab, Keertani Jatha (not the AKJ one, the one in front of Palki Sahib), Granthi Singh Jee age around 80+, used to go in Vismaad Avastha singing and chanting, Dhan Guru Nanak, Keertan, with his feets moving, and literally dancing, face totally red.

I have also seen Marathi Sikhs (in Sehaj Swaroop) in Patna Sahib Gurudwara, bit of dancing, moving forwards and backwards, with Keertan - "Vaho Vaho Gobind Singh Jee", that looked they are in complete love of what they are doing.

I have seen this video as well, Personal opinion - This does not look Vismaad Avastha (I am a Moorakh, don't even do complete Nitnem, so who am I to judge), this looks cheap hippysim, background voice seems to be Snatam Kaur voice. I am not sure whether these people are associated to 3HO or Snatam Kaur or not, but personal opinion again - Spreading Sikhism this way the way they are doing, is it the Gurmat way?

Hmm sant maskeen would always recite some farsi/urdu but did never catch on to who he was quoting from.. done a littel research on fakir sarmad ...amazing...another chapter opening up for me in "sikhi"..

The first time, I heard the video, and i even turned it up... i couldn't even tell it was gurbani being sung... what struck me was the tune and the beat (perhaps my focus was more visual than audio)... I wonder how many people actually present were aware of what was being sung.
