In true gurmat practice- No colours matter

- No hiding the face completely like the old chund

-No piercings

- No excessive make up like bright red bindis, bright lipstick and henna.

Although, i'm sure that there is nothing wrong with using feminine beauty clarifying products like cleansers, exfollients, clear complexion creams...etc..

-I don't think a lehnga is any problem

- I have seen chura or vanga being worn, although they only have a few.

Maybe I wouldn't wear to many on the arm your kara is on or say that they hide and mask the kara.

I'm sure that as long as your kara can be clearly seen it's OK for a few churhas, after all a feminine look is still feminine and Guru Nanak ji talked more about equality rather than dampening feminine looks !

In terms of outfit or what you wear, I completely agree with Raj Karega khalsa ji above that there is no hard fast rule, and you can wear whatever you feel appropriate as long as it is not extra loud.

So you don't agree with Bhai Daya Singh ji's Rehat?

The Khalsa life style is split into all three nature -diet/life style in accordance to Giani Gian Singh and Bhai Daya Singh. Please read the rehitnama of bhai dya singh ji in its totality -where he talks about sato, rajo, tamo life style/dietary.

Bhai dya singh ji rehitnama put an end to all the controversies including never ending meat debate started close to 100 years, rehitnama talks about khalsa can subscribe to any three gunas diet/life style or mix the lifestyle as it suitation warrants- sato(sant), rajo(house holder-gristhi), tamo (nihangs in jung suitation) based on their life style.

May be Prabhjot Singh veer can help us with direct quote from bhai dya singh ji rahitnama.. I read it long time ago on hard copy.

Waheguru Jeo,

Here is Bhai Daya Singh Ji's Rehitnama jeo:

I think we'll have to read the whole Rehitnama to understand it fully but the last 3 pages are perhaps more relevant to current discussion, the last page has rehit for bihangham singhs..

Thanks for posting that prabhjot singh ji, really appreciate..will go over it shortly.

In the meantime, prem Sumarag granth one of most puratan granths, has full chapter of sikh marriage for grishti householder sikhs- some of things does not make sense when we look at it from today's perspective but some of things are very detailed and make sense. I urge every one to read it - take whatever you can from it.

Marriage starts from page- 20

Which bit's don't agree ?

I'm not sure about how far you take this makeup business.??

You state in true gurmat.....................which makes it that Bhai Daya Singh ji is not expressing true Gurmat with the rehat.

I have no opinion on this issue, but you do when you stated true gurmat...........................Opinions would only hold value if they made sense with Gurmat and we did not have an authority, like the Punj Pyare clearing this question the OP has asked. However we do have an authority clearing the issue, which means there is only three things left to do for a Sikh as Gurbani states. Accept it as the truth (the rehat is coming from Bhai Daya Singh ji) be content with it, that it is the truth, and then contemplate in the mind that i am low and rehat is high, one day by contemplating on Gurbani I hope Satguru blesses me with how and why this rehat is the truth.

Just gave the chapter on marriage a brief perusal. Do modern-day Sikhs (the rehatvaan types of course) still follow those ways in their entirety, i.e. presenting the Singhni to be married with shashtars? Also do chardikala Sikh families stick to the time-frames specified in the granth?
