I don't like the police wearing shoes inside the gurudwara

We are not worshipers of pictures but gurshabad.

Plus if they are going to put up th picture somewhere else what does it matter.. Over inflated egos is the problem, nothing else..

Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Jee Maharaaj's painting has been removed from one of the stairwells leading up to the Darbaar Sahib Jee. There are others - namely fantastically inspiring pictures of Sant Jee and Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Jee which could next face the 'axe'.. this could be a method of testing the waters.. how much do the Sangat kick up and how soon is the Spirit of the Warriors broken.. We must all stand together and let them know - this is unacceptable! the committee are not the powers that Be. The Sangat are.

300 people don't make up the whole Sangat.. I can bring 600 people to support the committee, then which is considered as Sangat..?

Yes comittee shoul ask Sangat before taking important decisions, but moving a pictures ain't one of them IMO

malhi was just as bad as this lot but he was alot more panthic - baba thakur singhs barsi was there under him as well as other pro panthic programs

what is happening to gurudwaras these days..... its so corrupt. i like going to clifton road gurudwara in southall its a small gurudwara and i dont think it has these problems.

I agree some of these pictures can be inspirational, and If I was in the UK and attended that gurudwara i would be sad to see it go down. but it's ridiculous if this escalated to the point where the police had to be involved.

The problem is the current committee of the gurdwara would rather call the police than answer the sangats questions or discuss the issues! They are making a mockery of us themselves

So far we've heard that the reasoning for taking down the boards, are one, people using drugs within the lift or unacceptable behaviour, to idol type worshiping

From my own experience I’ve seen people bowing down to a depiction of Guru Gobind singh at the stairs to the dawaan, so anyone one of these claims could be credible, we will just have to wait and see what their reasoning are.

Personally I dont think there is an issue to depictions of great Sikhs, wars or moments that remind us of past hardships our nation went through, i myself get uplifted every time i see the photo of Sant Jarnail Singh within the langar, but there is a thin line which I have seen been crossed from awe and reverence to idol worship, the committee, which is installed for the betterment of our sangat should, if taking down pictures or taking steps, be more clear about their reasoning’s when effecting things sangat care about.

This is a matter of education and the constant challenge we have to make to Hindu ritualism which is creeping in to our families and wider sangat.
