Granted our guru sahibs might of rested or even planted them but if that is the case then these people should be doing matha tek every 2 meters as surely our guru sahibs must of been there or in the vicinity.

Yes, I agree; it would not be only two meters but each & every step where our Gurus walked, sat, rested, preached, etc. It doen't mean that we do 'mattha tek' at every inch of the earth.

I LOVE this shabad !!

READ it carefully and you will find that the TRUE MALA is with us at all times !!!

There is NO need for a rosary in your hand, because each breath - THE BREATH IN and THE BREATH OUT make up each utter of HAR, therefore HAR HAR said Twice !!

What I find interesting about this shabad is that it is by Guru Arjan Devji and it is specifically talking about ''Har Har'.

Now, most of the references in gurbani to 'Har Har' are by the 3rd Guruji.

The shabad tells you that the mala of each breath within you is the mala that goes with you to the next world.

NOT the hand held rosary.

NOTE- the hand held mala is just a tool that can help some people focus and do their simran.

The counting is what is contrary to gurmat, because if your har har just stops when the end of the mala is reached then you might as well participate in other blind faith rituals !!

Don't some people use a mala to keep count of how many jaaps they've done? Surely there's nothing wrong with that? :blink2:

No there isn't !!

But when one's jaap just comes to a complete stop and standstill when the mala finishes is not what it's about.

That's why guruji tell us that the True MALA should be enshrined within us at all times.

With every breath taken, ''Har Har' or waheguru should be vibrating !

Start off with a mala if you need it, I certainly used it !! But when you get to rom rom simran stage, then you will understand what the above shabad is saying !

The shabad tells you that the mala of each breath within you is the mala that goes with you to the next world.

NOT the hand held rosary.

Nobody said here that Mala is for counting. If so, show us where.

The point is that Har Har with each breath does not come on its own.One has to do kamai for that and such

Kamai is rejected by those who post such shabads out of context.

This can be called as ajapa jaap which comes with when you do meditation focussing on Waheguru ji.

For that one has to start Naam simran , do it continuously with unflinched faith in waheguru, get his grace

and when he bestows his grace then such awastha is obtained.

So mala is an aid for that or for aiding concentration.

I ask the poster who condemned Mala , is he remembering Har, har with each breath? What happens when he sleeps.

This shabad is aimed at those who do not do meditation but do pretend to do this by holding mala in their hands.

Essence is that rituals without actual kamai of Naam simran is of no use. It is condemnation of those pakhandis and not Mala.

Is my language like farsi that no one with intellect can understand ?? :stupidme:

Or do I talk to a brick wall and some members will just pick out a few words to interpret their own meaning ??

Kindly tell me what your interpretation of the whole shabad is, since my version is a load codswallop ! :stupidme:

The shabad condemns those who pretend to be religious outwardly but do not contemplate upon Waheguru.

Mala is a means to an end to aid for concentration.Mala is not the central point. Moreover shabad is not posted by you.

It was posted by johal with a sarcastic attitude.

Read my previous post carefully before jumping to gun.

I have written that Mala with every breath stage does not come so easily. For that you require concentration for years.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
