I know of people who had darshan of Sri guru hargobind sahib Ji maharaj and they said he was close to 7'2 to 7'6.He was also described as very tall in suraj prkash Granth.I have also seen guru jis chola and it was HUGE!!!He had to be at least 7'2.I also had the darshan of his shield and shastars and they would be best fitted for a 7'6 person.

Guru gobind Singh Ji had to be at least 6'2 because how would he have carried his big and heavy shastars?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bhai Bachittar Singh was 4' 11" or 5' 1-2" and he used a nagani barsha and pierced very, very thick reinforced armor.

I know Guru Hargobind Sahib was very tall like you said because of his kashera and chola. I read somewhere on SS about a claim that Guru Gobind Singh Sahib was 5' 10-11" and was able to use two kirpans to slice an arrow from close and long range.

Maybe this over 7ft comes from people that have had darshan.

From what I have learned is that when Guru's or anyone gives darshan they are on an astral plane that is a few ft above our normal ground.

So, the one getting darshan ends up looking up slightly with head tilted back.

There is an actual scientific name for this astral plane but I can't remember.

I also learnt that it applies to everyone, even gorey that have had darshan of Jesus ..buddhists with buddha....etc..etc..

But overall, I reckon that he was taller than 6ft but maybe not upto 7ft !

I read (sorry - cannot recall source - may have been Dr Gupta's History of the Sikhs) that Guru Gobind Singh was 5'9" as judged from his weoponry, especially the mutth of his tulwars/ kirpans. Puratan shastars have seemingly tight fitting mutths so the weopon is firmly in grasp, so this may be an underestimate. Secondly hand size varies inconsistently with height.
