Meditation(naam simran) and Gurbani. Its like a meeting with Whaeguru (All in all). It is life energy turned up all the way. May take some time but worth the investement. Need is an illusion because mind likes to be contuinally fed incoming data for it to feel in control. So lack of incoming positive response lead to loneliness, depression etc. see the illusion as a illusion. sit and observe your mind see how its chatter is making most of us miserable. like i am lonely, not good enought...... pretty soon you will rise above it and you with Gurus grace

Having had a terrible child-life, with divorced parents, step-mother and entire schooling away in a boarding school in India, where parents would come zero-to-once a year to meet me, life has been hellish. This had led to severe depression after my son was born. Life had just become too much to handle.

From my personal experience, the first step to getting rid from depression is to acknowledge it. By acknowledging I do not mean that one accepts that they're sad or etc, but to acknowledge that they're suffering from depression and they NEED help.

I don't know whether it is the same for others too, but I had always been over-forgetful. I couldn't concentrate on anything I listened to. Neither someone speaking or my own thoughts. There would be like infinite thoughts in my head every moment. I would be puzzled most of the time. Insomnia. Too emotional. Too scared. Suicidal. Terrible mother. Terrible wife. Terrible person.

Despite counselling and anti-depression drugs for about 6 months, nothing changed for me. Then suddenly it just clicked! I would sit down to meditate and carefully try to listen to and analyse the thoughts in my mind. Meditation definitely cleared my head and I felt immensely relieved.

Thinking about the 'bigger picture' did a lot of good for me.

By 'bigger picture' I mean, our real selves, life and death...and things like how would suicide really help me?...whatever 'dukh' I have is a result of my own past karams. I have to face them and not stay with them. I had to move on. No point being in the past.

P.S. Sukhmani Saheb paths have done wonders for me! Please, anyone wanting to recover should definitely seek refuge of Gurbani.

By reading yours i am remembering mine...

My life has a lot so called tensions which made me a person who is always ready to fight...

I was very quite person ... very nice... but the problems that i have faced... made me rude.. n bad as well......

Counselling myself to be a fighter n will say no to things... made me so tough that... whenever there is wrong happening with me or anyone else...i just start opposing it....

I am very religious n i took a lot of support from Gurbani...

U r true... Sukhmani sahib helped me alot....

But my mind is never at peace in spite of doing path..... but gurbani gives me lot of strength to fight datz true...

Whenever i feel depressed i start doing path till the time my problem do not get solved.. i do path daily but i increase my bani when i am in great tension...

no one can look at me n say i am sad... coz i do know to keep smile on face... but there is always a instance when something from the back of my mind says... dont pretend coz u r not... so....

Gurbani is no doubt is my medicine to cure me everything n to keep me healthy.... but sometimes.. when i am in great tension at dat time i dnt know y... but i still think... death is the only way to get rid of this life full of struggle... on the other side.. my soul says.. i am not so weak... i dont know how i am surviving.... but i am.... :D :D :D :D :D n i will.....

Keep reading Gurbani.... Guru n Gurbani both helps... :D yes sometimes i dont feel like doing path... n i dont do.. but i try to bridge that gap... by reading those path which i rarely do read... like dukh bhajani sahib.... etc.. its a kind of change... but at last u r reading guru's words... n it helps... :D

Waheguru g ka khalsa... Waheguru g ki fateh :D

Will recommend SEVA (selfless service, volunteer duty, task for God)

There are 3 ways of doing it -

1. Tan = Physical

2. Man = Mind

3. Dhun = Monetary

Fit them in your routine.

HELP others to feel better.

A book called Soul Planning By Robert Schwartz is very good in explaining why does a soul plans such difficult journey.

Always remember that you are a Spiritual Being having a human experience. You are not body or mind but a soul(part of GOD itself). GOD experience itself through us. Happiness is a state of being which means you can choose to be happy since you are GOD indiviualized you by nature a creator. By always saying I AM sad, unworth and repeated statements make it ones reality. You will definately experience your own creations since repeated thoughts and words a mode of creation. By choosing to be anything and most important believing it to be true you can create it as your reality (since you are creator GOD indiviualized). In a world full of people How can one be lonely Find a homeless shelter to volunteer share with the needy and your happiness will multiply.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
