surroundings during naam simran?

Recommended Posts

Warm and confortable.

Not too cool and not too warm.

Quiet and silenceness.

Very dim lighting that is not directly infront of your closed eyes.

Some prefer the room to be quite dark with just a hint coming from outside lights.

Can use a pillow or cushion to sit on or partly sit on.

Some find it suitable to sit facing the window even if blinds and curtains are closed, since it is the direct exit into the creation out there.

Some find it suitable to sit facing a portrait of a Guru, although one is not worshipping or doing puja of this but it is simply there to help the dhyan.

just make sure no farting...........you smell it faster because because you are sitting cross legged you may also disturb others with the sound vibration and smell. Most houses in the west are made of wood and have carpet or hardwood so the vibration and sound travels it's like your shaking the floor. If you have a gas problem just sit alone....I have been on the receiving end and it mentally disturbs you...I feel so violated.

You remind me of a funny occurence when I was a child. I was doing paath one morning after my dad use to do his morning baania. He goes downstairs to the kitchen to take his medication, and I take my place. Our prayer room was above the kitchen in those days. Anyway I begin my Nitnem, and I, to my shame, "release" and all I hear from downstairs in the kitchen is a muffled exclamation of "Bas kar! Shath diggan lagi. Ka ka keh padh shadi janda." :blush2:

haha :blush2:
