I HAVE JUST RECEIVED FACEBOOK UPDATES THAT PUNJAB OFFICIALS (CLERKS/HAWALDARS - POLICEMEN) ARE DISTRIBUTING PIRATED CDs OF SAADA HAQ OPENLY IN LUDHIANA, RAJPURA ...

I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY ARE DOING SO, REQUEST TO ALL HAVING RELATIVES/FRIENDS IN PUNJAB, DON'T SEE THE PIRATED CD, PEOPLE DISTRIBUTING IT ARE PUNJAB GOVT. AGENTS.

Well it's a good thing that's happening of distributing copies because they (govt) never going to have it released in Punjab anyway. I am sure that film cost will get recovered by foreign shows. So it's win win situation however I doubt that govt are distributing it because damage is more if young generation watch the true story movie and these badal clan knows that.

The govt wants the film to lose money so that the producers of this film or any others thinking of making a similar film do not take the risk of losing money. The govt knows that they can never stop the film due to the internet but they want that Sadda Haq should be a one off and other films like it should not be made.

US-based Sikh right groups to release ‘Sadda Haq” in English

New York: With a motive to challenge an unconstitutional blanket ban on the movie “Sadda Haq” by the Punjab SAD (Badal) Government, the US-based Sikh right groups have declared to promote and sponsor the release of the English version of the movie worldwide.

The film Sadda Haq has been a non-starter in cinema halls across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, since its release on April 5, as Governments in both the states and the authorities in union territory imposed a ban on its screening.US-based-Sikh-right-groups-to-release-%E

The movie highlights human rights violations against a religious minority in Punjab during the 1980-90s. It allegedly shows the police torture and other types of inhuman practices that were reported during that period. The movie has thus been banned from screening on the grounds of creating communal disharmony.

Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) have begun and international campaign in US and Canada to expose the genocide of Shikhs, and are therefore advocating to support Sadda Haq. SJF has also initiated campaign in support for the movie of Facebook, where they already have over 100 thousand followers (and counting) from around the world.

Massive international publicity in favour of the movie can be a reason that’s propelled the US-based Sikh right groups to lend support for the release of the English version of Sadda Haq.

Based on the global spread of Sikhs, we’re only really looking at 30% of the Sikh population who live outside of India. The majority 70% of potential cinema sales is lost income for the filmmakers if Sadda Haq ban is not lifted. The financial hit will discourage other filmakers just as the Indian elite want.

Our job should now be to lift the ban in India. Now is the time to use our contacts with the Sants, Jatehdars, Jathebhandis etc to add to the pressure on SGPC to revoke their opinion against the movie.

Thats true, if you see the timing of the ban( just a day before release), it was a pre-decided move by the government so as to cause maximum financial damage to the producers. I am pretty sure they had decide to ban this movie way ahead, they just implemented the ban an evening before deliberately.

This is to discourage any further such efforts of making such a film.

Honestly, I dont see the ban being lifted unless the producers win an appeal in the court which is going to take some time and is still less likely.

It would be a very good idea to release the movie in English. I think the Sikhs are doing a good job by going out with their families and watching the film. But next step would be to encourage your non sikh friends( especlaly goreh) to watch this film. May gift them DVDs when the movie is released on a DVD

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
