Do you comb your hair forward for backwards when tying a dastar like a gol dastar or dumalla

I tried backwards for gol, but it doesn't look good. From the side it looks too wide but it is flat at the top. I do a guti at the top which is very flat. I tie a smaller patka over to keep hair protected and neat. Then tie a pagh over that. For a dumalla you need to do a bunga. So you wrap your hair in a keski and tie that as a joora at the front. (Look on youtube for a guide, my explanation was rubbish).
