Time to reveal myself

Congratulations on taking amrit!!!!!!!! I also like the AKJ. but some advice about surrey B.C. is that its a very bad area. there are so many gangs who name themselves sikhs but they are cut haired and meat eaters. There are a lot of gun problems and drugs with punjabi gangs in Surrey. If you go to brampton/toronto in ontario canada you will find a lot of amritdhari sikhs like you. and also you get A LOT of Akhand kirtani jatha smagams, rainsbahis, kirtan darbaars in toronto. http://akj.org/skins/one/programs.php?countryid=1&city=Toronto

There are so many AKJ programs. You can meet alot of gursikhs by going to the house programs.

Im not saying you shouldnt move to surrey but toronto would be a better choice.

once again, CONGRATS ON TAKING AMRIT!!!! :D

That is ridiculous! Surrey is a very very safe place. There are lots of Sikhs there, and none of them complain about this stuff you speak of. Most people here have never seen drugs, guns, gangsters etc.. What are talking about?

I will second that because Surrey is way more safer than you think.

Compared to what I saw and experienced in UK, it's an absolute heaven.

The crime rate is actually a joke, to the locals here it seems a lot much-that's all !

So, someone ordered pizza for you when you went to their house, and you label all Canadians as being the same? Wow!

That's funny because I was born and raised in UK and left there after 35 years.

I have travelled the world over and there is no place better than the west pacific coast in my opinion.

AND YES- I would NEVER live anywhere in the UK again unless I had to for some urgent reason.

Could not have been that bad if you were born and raised here, you were educated here that's probably how you managed to go to canada, when you were sick medical treatment was given to you free of charge etc, should not forget your roots even if waheguru ji has sent you some where new, your family came here from india i guess and i bet they were very grateful at the time, but now you have moved to more glamorous horizons shall we say, you are knocking the uk, its a case of forgot your old friends because you have found some new ones. I lived in canada in langley, i worked at port kells so i know what i am talking about too. the only reason i got involved in this topic is because i have noticed how you knock the uk , seen this in other topics too, quote below. stick to the topic and stop slagging of the uk because you have now become a canadian boy :lol2: . What will you do when you find a new country start saying negative things about canada. :nono: you ate the salt of this land don't do namak haram now! Canada is a beautiful country but indians or east indians as you people say are very selfish and arrogant people, they think they are better than everyone else, until you see into there personal lives! oh and read the comments further down from someone who has been to both countries, i rest my case :biggrin2:

Coming from UK, the crime here is Minimum,- I don't think much of it !

Infact back in UK where we used to sleep upstairs, then we would activate the house alarm every night downstairs whilst asleep ans still someone attempted to break in !!!

You don't get that crap even in the worst areas in Canada !

Just my two cents from someone who lives in neither Canada or the UK but has visited both countries...I travelled to the UK and Canada last year. I have to say, in all honesty....Canada was a <banned word filter activated> experience. I hated it and wouldn't go back. I stayed in Surrey and Vancouver. I love travelling but never have I been more excited to leave a place than when I was in Canada. Was there for the Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan....so much beadbi it was a joke. It made me cry.

In terms of the UK, loved it! If there is one country I would move to it's the UK. Sangat is amazing there...I love the ekta...there are some internal problems but when it comes to the crunch you guys come together which is something I didn't see in Canada...everyone just competes with each other...the haalat of the Gurdwaras there is worse than any other western country when it comes to gurdwara comittees and it seems to be all about making money.

Bhul chuk maaf, just what as an outside I noticed. But I honestly wouldn't go back to Canada if you paid me to and gave me a free ticket in first class.

Bhenji wjkk wjkf,

I am glad you had a great time in the uk, please come again, we may not have big houses etc , but hospitality is our way, our parents who came here decades ago have always been very strict on this point, just like in india, if a guest comes to our homes, we ensure that good food and a friendly manner is always adopted, I love india for this, people may be poor but there pyar and seva is second to none, Unfortunately like i have said previously canada or apne should i say were a big disappointment. They know how to take hospitality but not how to give it! and the funny thing is they cant see their own faults just everyone else's.

Hey, I don't slag the UK and don't intend to either. The talk was just about the crime, and that's all I mentioned.

In fact, your comments remind me of how good the sikhi influence is on the youth of UK.

Here, even in Surrey where concentration of Sikhs per population is max, they still have little impact on indo-Canadian youths.

The Canadians that have lived here a long time know this because they are quite surprised that I am a Sikh even though my father was born in UK too.

The sikhi parchar and gurmat camps..etc.. that you get in UK, is a cut above the rest of the world !

Don't get me wrong, I stick up and support the UK in the areas that it has strength.

And there aren't as many backward Sikhs in UK as there are here !!!
