I was told by my dad that..... It points to sky...that signifies the presences of almighty...it Indicate the place of him...

Matha tek to it is kind of respect to akal purakh... It states the presences of Gurdwara as well....

God is everywhere.

You claim that to do Matha Tek or do Parkarma of the Nishaan Sahib is "Manmant" - that's your opinion - please don't state it as 'fact.'

The Nishaan Sahib is MAHA Satkaarjog (respected) - at all times 25 Shaheed Nihang Singhs do Pehra (Keep Watch) and stand around the Nishaan Sahib - Those that keep sharda (faith) - obtain the fruits of their prem (love) for Guroo Ka Nishaan Sahib - any Ardaas performed before the Nishaan Sahib will be obtained in Chardee Kala (high spirits).

The Nishaan Sahib is a symbol of Victory, a sign of Guroo Granth Sahib Jee's Dal, a sign that right here Guroo Keeyaan Laadleean Faujaan are situated, a sign of Guru Granth Sahib Jee are Raajan Ke Raajae, a sign that Khalsa Panth are in Chardee Kala.

Guroo Ka Khalsa would always Ga'jaa Guroo Kee Fateh to Sri Nishaan Sahib Jee, do Parkarma and ask for the Chardeekala of their Gursikhee jeevan, Chardee Kala of the Panth, Chardee Kala of our Shaheed Singhs/Singhneeyan, Chardee Kala of Jholdae Nishaan Raehan Panth Maharaaj Kae and any other heart's desires (Gurmukh desires - forget your worldly wants.. - ask for Naam, Kurbanee, Seva, Simran, Santhea, Shashtr Vidia etc)

Feel the Beer Rass of Sri Nishaan Sahib's tall stance, their beautiful Chola, their Farla and the chamkaa Khanda - Akaallllllllllllll!

why do sikhs matha tek to it and do parkarma around it?

Do you mean matha tek as in going down to your hands and knees ???

Are you matha tekking the Nishan sahib or the Guru's door (Gurdwara) ?- because you know that Guru Granth Sahib ji is in there ??

I assumed that most people do it in the direction of Guru's Dwar, knowing that Guruji is inside

As for doing parkhama around it, - I think most people that do this don't even understand the significance or intention !!!

When you do parkarma and go around Guru Granth Sahib ji, what does it mean ???

Khaarkoo ji it is manmat and nothing more.

Shaheeds does not keep pehra on Nishan sahib.

Akal purakh is everywhere he does not need assistance of any shaheeds.

When 3000 innocent sikhs killed where were these shaheeds and baba's who sees shaheeds.

Read history how many time Harmandir Sahib has been attacked.

No Shaheed saved it infact GURU'S SIKHS ATTAINED SHAHEED TO SAVE HARMANDIR SAHIB.

Watch who is saying what and then answer.

The Nishan Sahib is bowed to because it reminds a person of what sacrifice, persistent, and courage the Khalsa Panth went and is going through to protect those that can't protect themselves. This Nishan Sahib was flown high and far because wherever their was oppression, the people knew the Khalsa Panth can help them. Many lives have been sacrificed so this Nishan Sahib keeps flying high and far.

When refugees see a flag of freedom they know safety can be found here from the oppressors under this flag. The refugees thanks the flag that stands for freedom. The difference of Kaal and Akal needs to be understood here. Just as Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji bowed to shastars, the Khalsa Panth bows to the Nishan Sahib that stands tall and the same shastar were used to protect what the Nishan Sahib represents.

Manmat is when a person speak without taking guidance from Guru's Bani. Dasam Bani allows and upholds the bowing of Nishan Sahib and shastar.

Akaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllll

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
