1984, A Sikh Story (Bbc Documentary) And Your View Of Punjab Today

"The army went into Darbar Sahib not to eliminate a politcal figure or politcial movement but to suppress the culture of a people, to attack their hearts, and to strike a blow at their spirit and self-confidence."

- Joyce Pettigrew

To all people here,

Is there any documentary etc showing what "actually" happened? The actual Sikh perspective? If there is, then kindly give it!

Interview of a Indian General who refused to attack the Darbar Sahib.

The Sikhs stood up against Indra during the emergency when she created a dictatorship.

Also some Hindus also took part in the defence of the Darbar Sahib, showing that Hindus weren't hated. If they were, why would they lay down their lives defending the golden temple?

saw this documentary a few times, the first time being the time of its release. It has a very strong pro indian government bias from Sonia Deol. I don't consider her to be a Sikh. A lot of reporting post 1984 from western sources is a lot more accurate in the depiction of events that occurred.

The Sonial Deol criticism is a tad unfair. She's just a pretty face. A bit of an airhead and she makes no claim of being anything more. Her task in the programme, was to be the pretty face behind the propoganda of main researcher and producer Mandeep Singh Bajwa. Mr Bajwa, is a well known agent of the Indian government.. Next time he's listed as a producer of a BBC show.....be sure not to watch it. It's sure to be nothing more than a hot steaming pile of dog poo.
