Gurbani is beautiful, it has many deep meanings connect to various different consciouness and perceptions- sargun and nirgun, its hard to list all of meaning ... the main thing is gurbani cannot be confined by one meaning, those who confine gurbani in one meaning are trying to capture akaal purkh nirgun sargun saroop in small pot, pot will be destroyed before even attempting confine gurbani...cannot be possible.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Possibly referring to 5 primal sounds of the anhad shabad like Anand Sahib :

Says Nanak, listen, O Saints; enshrine love for the Shabad.
kahai naanak sunhu santahu sabad Dharahu pi-aaro.

The True Name is my only support.
saachaa naam mayraa aaDhaaro.

The Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds, vibrate in that blessed house.
vaajay panch sabad tith ghar sabhaagai.

In that blessed house, the Shabad vibrates; He infuses His almighty power into it.
ghar sabhaagai sabad vaajay kalaa jit ghar Dhaaree-aa.

Through You, we subdue the five demons of desire, and slay Death, the torturer.
panch doot tuDh vas keetay kaal kantak maari-aa.

Those who have such pre-ordained destiny are attached to the Lord`s Name.
Dhur karam paa-i-aa tuDh jin ka-o se naam har kai laagay

Says Nanak, they are at peace, and the unstruck sound current vibrates within their homes.
kahai naanak tah sukh ho-aa ghar anhad vaajay.

does that mean we should not do Vyakhya or vichaar on Gurbani?

ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਣ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ

Pancẖ parvāṇ pancẖ parḏẖān.
The chosen ones, the self-elect, are accepted and approved

According to srigranth.org the above is given for the tuk.

However, there are many ways of looking at this all depending on individual stage of learning.

Panch rightfully means five, village elder, village leaders (panchaith), a perforating tool and a punching machine.

In the above translation, it is easily seen that as 'pardaan' and 'panch' are both in the mentioned tuk, therefore the translation comes as ''the chosen ones, the leaders that lead the way...etc..''

I don't at all think it is a reference to panj pyarey since this is Japji sahib by the 1st Nanakji.

However, I can personally see it in a few different aspects quite clearly.

1) as Sat1176 has mentioned the 'panch shabad'

2) the Five elements..

3) the Five senses.

At the moment I tend to perceive some shabads talking to me directly !!

In the above I can't see why only five chosen ones, why five pardaan to lead the way ??

At this stage of my spiritual progress I tend to see and accept ONE in everything. Akaal purakh is NOT limited, therefore theses numbers are just for us mortals and they mean something to us in our world. Therefore, the limit of 5 is coming from and to us and it is about what we do here as only we have limits that we can confine with numbers.

So, I see it as using my 5 senses to help me lead the way to Akaal Purakh.

The 5 senses of touch, smell, hear, taste and sight are the things we use to conduct ourselves in everyday life.

It is these 5 that help us to lead ourselves such as to lead our hands, lead our feet, lead our speech..etc..

I hope that in the coming future i can experience the panch shabad with his grace, thus at that stage it will be this higher self leading myself into the house and throne where he resides at inside me. The 'Ghar' that is within all of us !!

Panj Pyare did not exist at Guru Nanaks time, but several learner Gursikhs have said that this was a hint towards it - the Guru residing in 5 Khalsa (before even 1708 the Khalsa was Guru Khalsa such as in the Battle of Chamkaur)

The five senses do not really make sense in the context. Im thinking more into the 5 Shabad.

Did anyone find Baba Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwales Katha about this Pauri in the link?

There were 5 elect Sikhs from the beginning if u study ithiaas in depth.

A closer look at Abul's report reveals many events which were pre-planned by the Guru. Of course the first and most glaring event is the demanding of five heads. Why five? One may wonder. A closer look at Gurmat reveals that the Gurus did a majority of their important work in fives. Five Banis, five kakkars, five khands and five Singhs. The names of the Guru's five Singhs represent the virtues which a Khalsa must imbibe.

Daya means compassion.

Dharam means righteousness.

Mokham means piety.

Himmat means courage.

Sahib means Sir in the english sense. Only he is a sahib in the lord's eyes who has mastered the above four virtues.

Five Singhs however were not an exclusive creation of the Guru alone. They had been prevalent from the time of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji's panj pyares or five beloved ones were:

1.) Bhai Mardanna.

2.) Bhai Bala.

3.) Bhai Ajita.

4.) Bhai Lalo.

5.) Bhai Lehna.

Guru Angad Dev Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Budha.

2.) Bhai Paro Julka.

3.) Baba Amardass.

4.) Bhai Paida.

5.) Bhai Sadharan.

Guru Amardass Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Budha.

2.) Bhai Paro.

3.) Bhai Malhan.

4.) Bhai Balu.

5.) Bhai Jetha.

Guru Ramdass Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Budha.

2.) Bhai Bidhi Chand.

3.) Bhai Teertha.

4.) Bhai Dharam.

5.) Bhai Guria.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Bidhi Chand.

2.) Bhai Gurdass.

3.) Bhai Pirana.

4.) Bhai Paida.

5.) Bhai Langa.

Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Bidhi Chand.

2.) Bhai Gurdass.

3.) Bhai Behlo.

4.) Bhai Kalyana.

5.) Bhai Bhallan.

Guru Har Rai Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Suthra.

2.) Bhai Feru.

3.) Bhai Dargah.

4.) Bhai Bhana.

5.) Bhai Bhagta.

Guru Harkrishan Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Dargah.

2.) Bhai Gurbaksh.

3.) Bhai Gurditta.

4.) Bhai Sant Ram.

5.) Bhai Gurdas.

Guru Teghbahadur Ji's pyares were:

1.) Bhai Gurditta.

2.) Bhai Dyala.

3.) Bhai Uda.

4.) Bhai Jaita.

5.) Bhai Mati Dass.

All these Singhs were initiated into Sikhi by the tradition of Charan-Pahul amrit which was changed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to Khande-Bate-Da-amrit.
