What Ranking Do You Give The Khalsa Empire In The 19Th Century

Recommended Posts

The biggest reason why Sikhs in 1849 did not resort to a mass resistance or guerrilla war is because the Sikhs were just 5% of the population of Punjab. The other 95% were equally split between Muslims and Hindus. Unless one of these communities or both of these communities were to actively support the Sikhs, a guerrilla war could not have been possible. The Muslims due to their religion would never support the re-establishment of non-Muslim rule over them. The Hindus, although they had been the greatest gainers from Sikh rule would not support it's re-establishment because they had seen British rule in the rest of India as being benign to their community, The leaders of these communities had been guaranteed their lands by the British, the Hindus had gained in having a Hindu now as a ruler of Kashmir thanks to the British.

There is no doubt that had the Sikhs been more than 50% of the population of Punjab then the Punjab would never have submitted to the British rule.

There were Sardars who could have carried on fighting but to what end? For the Khalsa to suffer more from the hands of the British as well as from their Hindu and Muslim jholichuks? The leading Sardars as well as the common Sikh soldiers of the Khalsa army who survived were the first to join the British in fighting the mutineers.

Proactive Veerji i agree 100% with what u say above. The point I was trying to make was that this RSS accusation that the Khalsa Fauj sided with the British is a lie. The soldiers from a Sikh background who fought with the East India Company did so as paid mercenaries. To call them Khalsa Fauj is an insult by the British and Hindutva touts of our Khalsa Panth. But no doubt, there were a number of true Khalsa who survived the wars (as the Khalsa Panth can never be wiped out) but found the odds overwhelming when like you say the Hindu's benefitted from British rule and the Muslims also massively benefitted and preferred rule by white skinned people who followed the Muslims Hazrat Issa = Jesus (that the Muslims also believe had a virgin birth) rather than monotheistic Sikhs because in their eyes Sikhs were kaffirs. Given the Jawahir Singh fought so bravely against the British at Chillianwala there are different opinions about what happened post 1849.

The bottom line is we need to know how the combat the Hindutva propaganda against us sandhu has done us favour by bringing it up.

We just need to realise that our enemies are still playing the same game on us, flooding heroin into East Punjab from Pakistan and manufactured pills from other parts of India. They keep us poor so we abort our own children. They still try to corrupt Sikhi. They still keep us poor and uneducated so we are easier to manipulate. We need to turn back the tide of our enemies against us. Right now is not really the time for war as we need to build up our strength but it definitely is a time to increase our unity + increase education of Sikhs

Ghadhar movement were freedom fighters consisting of sikh hindu muslims

Despite being only 1% of the Indian population, Sikhs founded the Ghadar movement and comprised the majority of its membership

Akali Movement was peacefull movement to free gurdwaras.

The Akali's realised that British control of Gurdwara's via there Hindu Mahant friends was brainwashing Sikhs into falsehood.

Without free Gurdwara's there was hardly likely to be a free India.

Note again the confiscation of arms from Sikhs by both the British and Mughals.

Guru Sahib ordered us to carry five different shahstar at all times if we could manage rather than literally the 5k's that the British made there Sikh soldiers wear including ceremonial blunt kirpans hung as necklaces

Babbar Akali movement was militant version of akali to free gurdwara.

All strategies are valid within the circumstances to achieve the result so long as innocent people are not targetted.

back on topic what would you rank the peak of the khalsa in terms of history compared to other empires where would khalsa rank

The Khalsa Raj was no empire.

Its power, its land, its wealth was way behind the other famous brutal empires the World has seen like the Mongol Empire, the Arabic Empire, the Spanish Empire, the Portuguese Empire, the British Empire and the Mughal Empire.

All these evil empires spread there brutal reign of terror by killing tens of millions of innocent human beings, enslaving millions, raping millions of women, converting millions to Christianity and Islam by the SWORD.

Sikhs remained a small minority in Punjab and ensured Hindu's and Muslims enjoyed equal rights.

There was no slavery, no raping and no murder of innocent people by the Khalsa Fauj within the Khalsa Raj.

It was a unique type of swadeshi Raj, that though it was not perfect, was fundamentally for the benefit of the majority of all of Punjab's people whatever there faith - mostly Punjabi's are Muslim, then Hindu, then Sikhs, Jains and others religions.

unknown to most people, the sikh army defeated the british army in the second war and the they were in full retreat. After running for seven miles the traitors of the sikh empire stopped the retreat as the sikh army had ran out of supplies which the traitors had cut off.

Hitlier quoted "with sikh amry I could rule the world"

We need to stop dancing to the Hindu tune. We should be proud that the Sikhs of 1857 understood the situation they found themselves. They chose to back the British rather than a hotch potch of mutineers and rulers who wanted to retain their small kingdoms by backing the effeminate Mughal emperor of Delhi. Why should we have to defend what the Sikhs of 1857 did? Sikhs followed an independent path and backed the side which was best for them at the time.

It wasn't just the former Khalsa army soldiers that attacked the mutineers who had mutinied in the Punjab but the common people also chased and killed a number of them. The mutineers were seen as the foreigners in Punjab. There was an incident in Gurdaspur district in1857 where the mutineers were massacred by the British and local levies. The survivors were hunted down by the common people. The Congress party a few years were going to set up a memorial for the mutineers! I feel proud of the Sikhs who in 1857 saw what the situation was and attacked and killed the mutineers. Do not fall into the trap of the Indians who want us to feel ashamed because they want the mutineers to be referred to as freedom fighters and our ancestors as mercenaries.

Very true, and to think that just a few years earlier prior to 1857 those same soldiers turned mutineers had suppressed our fight for independence in the second anglo Sikh war. The poorbias got exactly what they deserved with interest.

Proactive Veerji and Jonny101 Veerji that's all fine on pointing out the reasons why paid Sikh mercenaries fought for the East India Company along with the 98% of Hindu's+Muslims that fought for the East India Company in 1857. As long it's clear to outsiders that the Khalsa Fauj only fights for Sarbath Da Bhalla (Khalsa Raj) and never fights for any evil slavery/rape/murder empires in exchange for a few dollars.

taking the entire sikh population at the time what percentage of the population was loyal to the british and what percentage fought against the british

the vast majority of the Sikh population was against the British.

But as we see under Empires like the Mughals and the British without ammunition, without food and struggling in poverty these things were not easy to achieve + thats why the Mughals ruled all of India with the help of a traitorous minority of Hindu's and Muslims among a larger anti-Mughal population and its the same reason why British Empire ruled over one third of Earth.

if you add all the sikhs in the statistics you gave that comes to a total of under 20 000 sikhs that fought and their were 6 million sikhs in india in the 1930's

thats less then 1% of the total population

Interesting how all of your posts tout the standard Hindutva propaganda.

Instead of openly admitting that a tiny 1.5% minority comprised the bulk of the freedom fighters you assume that because some poor Sikh had to feed his family during a famine that makes them supporters of the British.

By your logic that means Jews who didn't rebel against the Nazi's before the 2nd World War must have supported Hitler!?

Your logic, your figures and your anti-Sikh propganda that you are repeating is all flawed.

Before the 19th Century Sikhs were a 5% minority within Punjab.

By 1857 the Sikh population was 1% of the Indian population.

And it must be remembered that in 1857 over 98% of the soldiers who fought on the British side were Hindu+Muslim.

And even those that fought against the British were only upset with the British due to the fact that bullet casings has beef and pork derived casing on them ... it was only an afterthought on the fighters part to claim their fight was based along the lines of independence.

There were 6 million Sikhs prior to the Genocide of hundreds of thousands of Sikhs in Pakistan in 1947.

At that point in time Sikhs were 1.5% of the population of India. Today less than 2% of Indians are Sikh.

In 1881 the Sikh population was 0.75% of the Indian population which is not even 1%.

The scope for such a small population to overthrow the British in the 19th century when no other nation managed to overthrow the British Empire at its peak was limited.

The evil British Empire subjected the Sikh Panth to repeated famine, repeated murders of non-loyal Sikhs (true Amritdhari's) whilst flooding in drugs, alcohol and with most Sikhs who did not side with the British facing poverty and discrimination from Muslims and Hindu's.

On top of that between 1849-1921 Hindu Mahants were given control of all Gurdwara's by the British in order to sytematically destroy Sikhi from within by promoting anti-Gurmat practises.

now how many sikhs fought in world war one and died over or under 20 000

So because more people with names like Gill, Brar and Sandhu fought for GOI to destroy Harmandir Sahib it doesn't take away from the fact that more Sikhs in 1984 supported the Anandpur Sahib resolution.

how many sikhs fought for the british in 1857 rather then fighting for freedom for sikhs

A tiny minority of Sikh population at the time.

Not a single true Khalsa fought for the British - 100% of them were spiritually patit.

As the Khalsa Panth only fights for humanity not Christian or Muslim empires built on Slavery like the Bible+Quran condone.

and sikhs being blown up by cannons how many sikhs had bin blown up by cannans was it 100 or 1000 or 10 000

Tens of thousands of Sikhs were blown up by cannons and murdered and cremated without trace.

The Malerkotla incident is only the most famous because the bravery of the Sikhs was impossible to suppress from the media and because the Muslims of Malerkotla joyously supported the British in killing off the Sikhs.

out of the entire population after the second anglo sikh war how many sikhs left the khalsa army and took up jobs as soldiers for british east india

A majority of the true Khalsa Fauj were actually killed by the British.

Only a patit minority who faked as Kesdhari's then switched allegiances for money.

The true Khalsa Fauj of Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa never switched allegiances only the sellouts like those in recent times like that Sandhu that killed Justice Khalra happily worked as slaves of the British due to their financial motivation.

i want to learn more about the sikhs struggle against the british and read some biography's of sikhs who lost their lives in the fight against the british for india's freedom

That's what makes Hindutva lies so ridiculous.

Sikhs were the amjority of freedom fighters for indepence yet the Hindu minority amongst the freedom fighters is about who 99% of the literature is always written about. What's stupid is some slave Sikhs are actually proud of there links with the British Empire.

why didn't the true khalsa panth continue fighting after second anglo british war and is their any stories to read about the once who did and used guirila warfare to try taking out the british

They did but kinda like now when u realise that the odds are stacked suicidally against a tiny minority community it is sometimes better to retreat and wait for strength and allies to emerge.

Sikhs bided their time, fought via the pen, bought about internal religious reform first and ultimately freed India from the British Empire first compared to other nations enslaved by the British.

Instead of reading Hindutva propaganda by the RSS against Sikhs, if we want freedom now then rather than picking up a gun and boarding the next flight only to get arrested at IGI Delhi, the best thing to do is play your part in making our Panth stronger internally first.

Even if you are a self-professed agnostic, align yourself with the Sikh Panth and play your part in fighting abortion, drug abuse, alcohol etc that the GOI + Pakistan encourage among Sikhs.

Hinduism is for the benfit if the so-called upper castes, Islam is for the benefit of the Arab Empire and those who will get 72 light skinned virgins up in Heaven.

I encourage you as a agnostic to join the Sikh Panth in fighting for the benefit of all oppressed mankind (rather than the rich few).

your brainwashed with isi propaganda and weird conspiracy's

firstly i never said or implied in any way that sikhs who didn't fight against the british were loyal to the british could you point out were i said this

after green revolution punjab became richest state and started hiring migrant workers to do the labour for them

jatt ego kept ppl from allowing their kids to work and spoiled them

kids have resources and no work and want to party when their teens so start doing drugs and so on

remember it was the gorkhas and bengalis who fought the first and second anglo sikh war for the british so yes understandable sikhs wanting payback in 1857 against the bengali

soldiers but why did sikhs fight along side the same gorkha soldiers they fought against in the first anglo sikh war and second anglo sikh war

LOL is that the best u can do? ROFL

firstly i never said or implied in any way that sikhs who didn't fight against the british were loyal to the british could you point out were i said this

Where did i say that Einstein? LOL

if you look at thousands upon thousands of sikhs who fought for the british the question is why did so many sikhs fight for the british rather then freedom

The answer is simple = money. Same reason why that stupid Sandhu killed Justice Khalra and why idiots like Brar + Gill did what they did to innocent Sikhs

secondly after 1849 many sikh soldiers from the sikh empire took up jobs as soldiers with the british as soldiers

The Army of the Khalsa Raj was known as the Khalsa Fauj. However, not all of the fighters were Amritdhari Khalsa's.

The ones that defected over to the East India Company were mainly patits.

thirdly for 1857 i said why didn't sikhs fight for their own freedom rather then along side with the british

When the Punjabi Muslims and Punjabi Hindu's were 100% in favour of the British and Sikhs were outnumbered by Muslims and Hindu's 20 to 1 and having suffered oppression and murder and casualties of war from the British since 1849 it was no surprise that 1857 turned out the way it did. No colonial power especially the British Empire at its height had been overturned then

fourthly in punjab sikhs were favored over muslims same with hindus

Total nonsense. Sikhs were living in freedom in our own country and masters of our destiny until the pro-British Hindu Punjabi's and Punjabi Muslims started supporting the British. The Sikhs as the most feared Qaum were the ones who got discriminated against the most. The 100% beneficiaries who got treated the best by the British were Punjabi Muslims and Punjabi Hindu's. The British allocated all business to the Punjabi Hindu's and the vast majority of army and police positions were allocated to the Punjabi Muslims.

different ways a country use to another country is control the food and water supply but also give favour the minorities and treat them well to help recruit them into the army and police force and to suppress the majority

You're living in your own Hindutva fantasy world. Sikhs never oppressed the over 90% majority of Muslims in Hindu's when there was Khalsa Raj so why would they after 1849. If Sikhs were a minority in the Punjab police and armed forces from Punjab then how the heck would oppress communities which outnumbered us almost 20 to 1.

you have a country with sunni and shia muslims who hate eachother if one country wants to take over and the sunnis make the minority and shias make majority you treat the sunnis well and help them take down the majority shia and make sure they govern the country for you but you don't help the shia cause if you help the shia they are majority and can turn on you an get freedom

This has no relavance to Sikhs as our faith teach us not to opress anyone. Islam + Hinduism are both based on oppression.

this is why sikhs and hindus were favored over the muslim majority in punjab

So the Sikhs come out the biggest victims at the hands of the British + Punjabi Muslims in 1947 and you say that Sikhs were favored.

Anybody can see your blatant anti-Sikh bias. At least you openly admitted that you are not Sikh at the start.

if you look at thousands upon thousands of sikhs who fought for the british the question is why did so many sikhs fight for the british rather then freedom

For the same reason even more Hindu's and Muslims fought for the British = they needed the money to feed there families.

after the first anglo afghan war the afghans rebelled rather then accept british rule why didn't the sikhs do the same

The Afghans weren't very successful around Peshawar were they? The Pathans of NWFP remained as slaves of the British all the way till 1947. Maybe one day the Pathans will get freedom Pakistan but even now the mainly Punjabi army of Pakistan is killing them. You can rebel all you like but it doesn't mean that will achieve anything. What did your Hindu ancestors in 1857 achieve? Nothing. Because 98% plus of the fighters defending the British in 1857 were Hindu+Muslim.

as well their is no conspiracy with groups trying to destroy sikhism by flooding drugs into punjab

LOL. So Pakistan floods in tonnes and tonnes of heroin daily (with the co-operation of GOI as they realise Sikh youth will be the main victims of Pakistani drugs) and pill factories controlled by Congress party bigwigs openly sell there drugs in every single village up and down Punjab with the police looking the other way at the orders of the GOI and that is not a conspiracy in your eyes??

after green revolution punjab became richest state

Sikhs are well known for being hard working (when not under the influence of drugs, alcohol or Hindutva)

and started hiring migrant workers to do the labour for them

Well can you blame the innocent workers for choosing to work in Punjab rather than suffer caste discrimination in Bihar etc

jatt ego kept ppl from allowing their kids to work and spoiled them

What you don't understand is that all industry was kept in Haryana to discriminate against Punjab because Haryana is dominated by Hindu Jatts.

So how come all the Hindu Jatt kids got jobs in the Delhi Police helping kill innocent Sikhs?

kids have resources and no work and want to party when their teens so start doing drugs and so on

its paranting that caused the drug problem in punjab and drug dealers taking advantage of the situation

I don't disagree with that but what you are failing to see is the hand of Pakistan's ISI and GOI in deliberately flooding East Punjab with drugs. If GOI wipe out industry in Punjab and prospect of jobs for youth as well then clearly drugs will take over as GOI wants.

also its sikhs in punjab who have bin voting in corrupt politicans since sikhs have had majority in punjab like badal

Sikhs have no real choice. Akali Dal (Badal) are probably the lesser of two devils.

If any Sikhs stood on an anti-corruption platform GOI would always kill them to retain there corrupt stranglehold.

with the amount or resources available to sikhs in punjab from nri's and agriculture its sikhs who are holding themselves back and no one else its called accountability

Sikhs can do better and we will do better. Yes if we hold our own people accountable for there own failings like being weak enough to fall for drugs or alcohol or abortion or corruption then East Punjab then improvement can happen within us. But non-Sikh Hindutva touts like yourself have a deliberate agenda of blaming Sikhs for being innocent victims. You people are the type who if a Sikh girl went out to do some shopping at midday dressed respectfully and then got raped would probably shout "she asked for it" ... "it was her fault (she was Sikh)" ... "the rapist only did to keep the country together".

Keep attacking Sikhs all day long. The more you lie against Sikhs the more stronger and determined we get at facing down the two main enemies of the Sikhs. You don't count as an enemy but the Hindutva people who brainwashed u with this fake misinformation do.
