Gay Marriage Legalized In California- How Should Sikhs Feel About This?

Recommended Posts

I don't understand how this has become an issue for debate ?

If we were having this discussion 10 years ago we would have all agreed that homosexuality is a sin. But today due to the western world accepting homosexuals people find it a means by which we must change our religious values in order to be harmonious with society.

You have entirely missed the point. And if you realise homosexuality is a manmath behaviour and still feel an impulsion to protect the 'right's' of people to practice this behaviour then your seriously confused. Yes Guru Sahib taught us to treat the human race as one but this has nothing to do with 'human race'. This is a behaviour that is not only out of line with Sikhi, but a hinderemce to salvation. There should be no obligation to protect the 'right's' of people to practice it. Would you start protecting the 'rights' of alcoholics to drink more alcohol or encourage/help them in quiting drinking? Our actions MUST be consistent with our parchar.

Nanak naam chardi kala, tere bhane sarbat da bhala.

Both Hetro and Homosexuals are affected by kaam, krodh, lob, moh, ahankar.. Whoever has conquered those are jivan mukht..relationship preference based on individual give and take karma, has nothing to do with it..if that was case then there would be pre requisite of someone being gristhi or behingum in order to be liberated.

Yes Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji protected the rights of Hindus to practice their dharam, hence the term 'dharam di chadar'. But protecting the rights of homosexuals is equivalent to 'shaitan di chadar'. There is a major difference in protecting the rights of someone practicing their faith or indulging in manmath behaviour. I have already used the alcohol analogy. Would 'Sikh's' protect the right of alcoholics drinking more alcohol or give them a helping hand?

Rapist, murderers, molesters etc are imposing their will on the other person. The biggest gift GOD gave to any being is their free will. If people stop imposing their wills on other people gay issue, meat issue (animals have free will too) have only one answer , mind you own business and if two people want to join in whatever its their free will. Guru Nanak refused to wear janeau. Guru Teg Bhadur ji gave his life for janeau, rights of hindus. Even though this whole life drama is an illusion they biggest lesson is uncondition, non jugmental , non condemning love for all.

Gay or straight is all a lifes drama. When we get tired of all dramas we choose GOD naam simran. Nothing is outside of GOD it contains everything. GOD loves all regardless and to reach him the criteria as Guru Godind Singh says in sawiyas "JIn prem kiyo tin he prabh payo"
