Infilteration Of Castiesm In Sikhism - How To Tackle This Bhraminical Sickness That Diseased Our Equality-Basedsikh Society

Recommended Posts

we are all aware of the trends in present day society
there is one great demon of brahminical origin that is far away form sikh principles but still has crept in sikh societies

we commonly are confronted with words like -

jatts,ramgharias,bhappas,khatris etc etc...

and ego-clashes among them

how and from where this castiesm has crept in our society ??

the society which was based on:-

"manas ki jaat sabhae eko pehchaanbo"

what problems and dillusions it causes in minds of sikhs???

and how should we eradicate it and tackle it in our daily life???

One should be sincere with themselves and not make Sikhi a show and just bow down to Guru Granth Sahib Jee to show themselves as a Sikh.

Bowing down alone is nothing....it's Karam Kaand/ritual.

Along with bowing down, one should have faith and belief. Also, one should have qualities of a good listener and sevak. Also, one should not only bow down and listen, but also read at their own pace. While listening and reading, one should accept Guru's Teachings and Hukams. True acceptance of those Teachings and Hukams is seen when the person applies it in their day-to-day, breath-to-breath, action-to-action life.

waheguru jika khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh :)

thanks "dasamsarblohgranth" jio for your great infor regarding the jaat-paat da bhed and how gurbani makes it crystal clear that sikhs shoul not engage in such discrimination..

Being a sikh i am too firmly against it

but as we see the ground reality most of the people in sikh societies asscociate them with this caste system and there are even clashes commonly seen in colleges of punjab .

people of so called higher caste try to push down people of so called lower caste.

even we may have relatives that associate themselves wiith a particular caste.

generally if see in society people will say that they are modernised the dont believe in castes ... this and that but when question of marraige of their children comes up all their modern thoughts are put in a sack and they revert to this jaati system to find a match ...
so in social terms what solution should be suggested to eradicate it completely ??

I was listening to a katha once where the veecharak made a very controversial but critical point. Hindus don't need to open any temples today because gurughars have become parallel ritual-houses of theres. Cast is just one of the many problems we face. This is going of on a tangent but is still related, families hold akhand paaths but how many actually stay with maharaj and do seva????

See this is my point, you stick your leg even in threads that are pertaining to Sikhs and shouldn't bother you. And then when someone says something about Islam you raise the red flag. Why can't you just leave us alone veer, LOL? If you love us that much, you're free to become one of us. Atleast with Sikhs you can be glad they won't chop your head off just in case you choose to go back to Islam ;)

I'm not sure if its caste-ism or clan-ism....

Jatts, Arain, rajputs blah blah are clans...not castes...

Don't know about India...But Pakistani Punjab has a huge problem of clanism..People identify with their clans...SPECIALLY in their voting patterns...which is a huge problem for people like me who are trying to break the political monopoly of Shareef Family over Punjab!

btw..I belong to the most superior clan of 'em all :biggrin2:

Unlike the rest of India, the caste system is a bit different in Punjab or even across the border in Pak Punjab. But whether one calls it casteism or clanism, it is not a good system for the people as a whole.

I have no idea how it infiterated Sikhi but I do few things with which we can tackle it:

1. Start with yourself

2. Spreading Gurmat to your younger generation, your younger siblings, your kids, grandkids

3. Having Inter-caste marriage... Don't ask and Don't tell RULE..

If each and every one who reads this, follow it.. we can make a difference...

thnks ekgurjaskhalsa ji :)

and from above posts we can say that majority of us are firmly against it

firstly about educating our younger generations yes we can do that what u said but it ll take a lot of time for it to eradicate it

i think maybe institutions like sri akal takht sahib ji that have power in sikhism can and should also take some steps

but like other issues they have convieniently shut off their mouths on this matter also(GOD KNOWS WHY...)

it ll surely help in tackling it fastly..(my opinion)

secondly , inter (so called) caste marraiges can also be very much helpful but here's the problem.. our elders oppose it and see it with great hatred as if like a sin

moreover some people in pinds are not educated enough to understand the diff. between inter religion and intercaste marraiges

moreover some cases even get voilent if question of such marraiges come up.. this sadly include murder of their own children in so called hounour of fake castes thing..

this problem is more prominent in village areas but even in cities it is existing..

many people with higher education degrees and posts also behave like illiterate when they speak about these bhraminical things that are a shame to sikhism

the so called modern society becomes prehistoric when they speak about these things

some people even say that they are jatts or ramgharias or of so so caste first and then sikh..

some idiotic people say that religion is man made but castes comes from DNA ..lol

i have myself seen people making fun of others coz they belong to some other caste..

even the todays punjabi media films and lachhar geets in a way promote these stupid things and they highly influence the youth to adopt thses idiotic practices thus promoting this illness of castiesm in younger generations also..

all this indeed is very much sad...

*Not just majority can be against it Concerned Veerji. 100% of Sikhs must oppose it tooth and nail as Guru Sahib ordered.

*Baisakhi da matlab saaf ehde khilaaf si and so was everything our Guru Sahiban said since Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

*In this modern time it can be wiped out as fast as Guru Sahib wiped out the custom of Sati. Straight away Sikhs stopped following old hangovers from Hinduism and Islam. Now we are openly copying them on this, praying to peers, going on pilgrimages and so forth.

*Very true. Other matters should be pushed lower down the agenda. This should be one of the top, alongside abortions and drugs.

*The people making fun must be tackled by Gursikhs. When these non-Sikhs insult Tarkhan they insult Bhai Lalo Ji, when they insult Kamboh they insult Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh Ji, when they insult Jatt they insult Baba Deep Singh Ji, when they insult Walia they insult Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, when they insult Chamar they insult Dhan Dhan Ravidas Ji Maharaj, when they insult Julahe they insult Dhan Dhan Kabir Ji Maharaj, when they insult Bhappe they insult Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, when they insult chure they insult Bhai Jiwan Singh Ji, when they insult Brahmin they insult Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das Ji, when they insult Gujjar they insult Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, when they insult Jhir they insult Bhai Himmat Singh Ji, when they insult Chimbe they insult Dhan Dhan Bhagat Namdev Ji Maharaj, when they insult Mirasi they insult Bhai Mardana Ji. The list can be never ending. All of our Panth's greatest true Guru ke Sikh turned their back on biraderi and only cared for the brotherhood and identity of mukth Gurmukhs and Khalsa Panth rather than these Hindu and Muslim caste labels which go against Baisakhi 1699 and everything that represented.

*Very true. Manmohan Singh Director and Gurbir Grewal director and others should be politely approached by Sikhs to make sure that biraderi and sharab are not promoted but always presented in negative light. If we approach musicians with nimrata maybe even they can do.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
Soohee, Fourth Mehl, Sixth House:
When someone of low social class chants the Lord's Name, he obtains the state of highest dignity.

ਪੂਛਹੁ ਬਿਦਰ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੁਤੈ ਕਿਸਨੁ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਘਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ Go and ask Bidar, the son of a maid; Krishna himself stayed in his house. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Listen, O humble Siblings of Destiny, to the Unspoken Speech of the Lord; it removes all anxiety, pain and hunger. ||1||Pause||
Ravi Daas, the leather-worker, praised the Lord, and sang the Kirtan of His Praises each and every instant.

Although he was of low social status, he was exalted and elevated, and people of all four castes came and bowed at his
feet. ||2||

ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਪਿਠਿ ਦੇ ਛੋਡੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਲੀਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ The Lord turned His back on the high-class Kashatriyas and Brahmins, and showed His face to Naam Dayv. ||3||

All of the devotees and servants of the Lord have the tilak, the ceremonial mark, applied to their foreheads at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
Servant Nanak shall touch their feet night and day, if the Lord, the King, grants His Grace. ||4||1||8||

    • One of the main criteria for entry into heaven or mukti is not specifically defined as non meat eating. I think Guru ji has made this rule specifically for kalyug where the quality of meat is on a decline and the cause of major illnesses.  All religions have some sort of similarity. At the end of the day survival on this planet is crutial if you are to earn your place in the darga. Vich duniya sev kamaiye ta dharge besan paiye.  Only Hinduism specifically says meat is to be avoided. However a person who is closer to God would not want to hurt or destroy another animal hence adding to their lekha. This is why a Sikh who is closer to God makes a personal choice to avoid meat.
    • I know penji. I have had this debate too in the past. Everybody has their own views. Our religion has been messed up badly. Therefore it will take some time or generations to put it back together.

      If you have performed any form of sex (vaginal, anal, oral, etc), then that will be classified as a cardinal sin, which means that you are out of Khalsa Panth. In this case, you will have to go for Peshi (if you are still interested in being part of the Panth). The Panj Pyare will give you an appropriate punishment and they will make you re-take Khande da Amrit. If you kissed, hugged, etc, even that is not allowed in Sikhism, except within marriage. In this case too, Daas would highly recommend you to go for Peshi. But, the punishment will be less severe in this case. Do you plan to marry that guy? If yes, then I think you can go for Peshi after marriage. But, you need to confirm this with a Gurmukh Mahapurakh before following this advice.   Bhul chuk maaf
    • And you have not provided info to say there should have been more or less Gurus.  What you provided was atheist views.  So you were seen and continue to be seen as one because you refuse to recognize and accept Gurbani and Gurus for who they are.  No one is an atheist for asking questions,  it's the views you expressed here that make you one.
    • I never mentioned anything about hell.  So, I'm go talk to a wall because it will understand more than you.
