so then veerji can u tell daas why longowal & tohra were safely escorted out of akal takht complex in contrast to others who were tortured to death inside? and regarding that daas was born in june 95.....

Politics Veerji. Had Longowal + Tohra also been killed then the weight of international pressure would have been on Indira Gandhi for killing democratically elected politicians who advocated Anandpur Sahib resolution. Also just to add that Longowal + Tohra dying at that time would not have achieved anything constructive. The massacre of innocent Sikhs at Sri Harmandir Sahib and the Genocide of an entire generation did not advance our Panth. Longowal and Tohra saw that a long way off and tried to ensure a peaceful resolution to what Indira Gandhi was engineering. But there was nothing they could do to stop her. They did not encourage her to do it and I'm sure of that Veerji.

thank you for responses. I think if longowal was a traitor sant ji would have known and have called him out right?

He actually did. Longowal raised a hue and cry about the sant being a congress agent, the sant calmly retaliated by stating that only time would tell who the real congress agent is. After Operation Bluestar Longowal's real 'bootha' was manifested.

Pyare Veer 13Mirch i totally disagree with the implication of your comment above.

The Akali's with Longowal Ji as leader who wanted implementation of Anandpur Sahib called Damdami Taksal agents of Congress in 1980 when Sant Ji and Damdami Taksal openly campaigned for Congress in those elections ... so the Akali's of that time (who were not as corrupt as today's Badal Dal) can't be blamed for opposing those who campaigned for Congress in 1980. Longowal was called Sant Ji by the people (not by himself) for what he achieved for them and the simplicity of his life.

By the time of 1984 however, the Sikh Panth was united that Anandpur Sahib resolution must be implemented and Longowal+Bhindrawale were two sides of the same coin (who had sincere respect for each other), with Sant Longowal who called Bhindrawale Ji "our stave to beat the government" representing the pragmatic moderate political discussion approach and Sant Bhindrawale (though he was dedicated to peace) representing the slightly more militant approach. The coin itself is one and will always remain one (despite different visions of how to get to where we as a Panth need to go). Both shades of opinion were 100% pro-Sikh. Even today, all angles of the Panth whether Canadian or Indian, whether sehajdhari or Amritdhari, whether pro-meat or anti-meat etc can contribute meaningfully to uplifting the Panth. The "stick and the carrot" as employed by Longowal+Sant Ji in tandem in 1984 is a valid political approach, as u have heard used by the Americans I'm sure.

It's important to remember that Longowal and Tohra were told that they would get the chance to negotiate for a peaceful conclusion to the encirclement of Sri Harmandir Sahib by Brar's cowards ... so it wasn't a case of how youth born in the 1990's have been fed lies that Longowal + Tohra Sahib walked out as traitorous cowards. Anyone from south of Ludhiana knows that Longowal and Tohra (who also disagreed on strategy between themselves as well) were never for a second anti-Sikh sellouts. They were Sikh and true to the cause in the manner they saw best. They foresaw that a military attack on Harmandir Sahib and a subsequent Genocide of the Sikh Panth (as given in the taster of what Congress was capable of at the start of November 1984) would leave our Panth in a very weak position subsequently. We see that clearly today in terms of drugs, abortion clinics, derawadi, you name it. Each and every Sikh knows that after what GOI did to us in June 1984 we can never have any real connection with the terrorists from Delhi. However, at the same time we have to maintain a sense of reality. When forces one hundred times stronger numerically and weapons wise are being faced, with innumerable traitors doing their bit for the enemy, then we as a Panth need to take the cautious approach and build our strength from the foundations upwards (not from the roof downwards). The foundations include the defeat of alcohol in Punjab, the defeat of drugs, the defeat of biraderi, the defeat of infanticide and the defeat of illiteracy. Back in 1984 there were 500 million odd more Hindu's than Sikhs in absolute numbers. Today there are 1,000 million more Hindu's than Sikhs in absolute numbers and the USA backing India as an unbroken entity in which to trade (as a counterweight to China) ... then we need to get our foundations strong before vocalising what we ALL want in our hearts.

The fundamental fact is that in 2013 the history of 1977-1997 conclusively proves that Longowal's vision of how to get the successful implementation of the Anandpur Sahib resolution was correct compared to the other approach advocated by Damdami Taksal. Not a single Sikh in 2013 can say in any way that we as a Panth were victorious in the period between 1977-1997. Indira Gandhi was politically defeated in 1977 and it was only her + Zail Sin cooking up the lie that all Sikhs were Khalistani terrorists that revived her political fortunes so she could attack Harmandir Sahib to grab the Hindutva votes.

Can you explain to me why Longowal as assassinated then??

Yes Veerji it was 100% a Congress Black Cats operation. Via the accord it would have been hard for Congress to justify the cold-blooded Genocide of over 150,000 innocent Sikhs between 1985-1995. The Congress plan was to wipe out the Sikh Panth. That much is clear from June 1984 and November 1984 and with a ceasefire signed (via the accord) even Congress would have found it hard to implement the Genocide of Sikhs between 1985-1995. So they got their Black Cats to as usual claim responsibility on the name of some fictitious supposedly terrorist pro-Khalistan front (bankrolled by Congress) so that they could allege that it was the Sikh Panth who broke the accord and continued on the imaginary killing spree against millions of Hindu's (when all innocent Hindu's killed were by the GOI's own Black Cats).

By the way the same pro-Congress organisation that killed Longowal issued threats to the Sikh Panth that all who attended Longowal's funeral would be regarded as patits and traitors. The response from ordinary Sikhs who knew Longowal as a man who truly believed in Sarbath Da Bhalla and saving the Qaum from the Genocide we suffered between 1985-1995 was that over 300,000 people attended the funeral. Sant Longowal operating in the political field (not out of choice but by popular demand and recognition given his record of seva to the community) was not perfect. Mistakes can be made by all human beings. But for people to accuse him of being an anti-Sikh traitor in 2013, 28years after his shaheedi is a clear cut distortion of actual history and actual facts. Luckily all of India is beginning to understand that Sant Ji was a galant defender of human rights for all. Similarly, we need to explain the truth about Longowal Ji being likewise a sincere Sikh who lived a sincere+humble life and who ultimately sacrificed his life for the Panth (albeit that the two great Sants had different visions and different methodolgies of achieving peace, equality + freedom for all).

Sant ji was forced to tell Sikhs to defend themselves after police forces repeatedly tortured and even killed innocent nonviolently protesting sikhs. Before the level of violence against protesters was ratcheted up Sant ji would tell people to not resist arrest and to remain nonviolent. Afterwards he told them to get away and not get arrested by any means necessary. The government controlled newspapers spread propaganda against the movement and the actions of the government itself backed him into a corner. However, he very clearly, in front of the entire world, followed to the letter Guru ji's hukum to only raise the sword after all other means had failed. He exhausted all peaceful means. Even up until the final battle he was willing to negotiate.

Longowal's betrayal is discussed here: http://www.bhindranwale.net/sikhismbooks/thegallantdefender-chapter11.html

SunSingh Ji i 100% agree with what you have stated above. What I strongly disagree with is the terming of Longowal as a "betrayer" without the realisation that Longowal was a pragmatic moderate realist who wished to avoid the subsequent Genocide of the Sikh Panth especially after having seen what Congress were capable of in 1984.

The book rightly dispels false propaganda against Sant Ji and I support that aspect of the book, however, it perpertuates this "traitor" allegation against Longowal Ji and nobody south of Ludhiana will believe it. If one book is used to show that Longowal Ji was a traitor then there are a hundred books showing how Zail Sin and Damdami Taksal openly co-operated in the 1980 elections. So it's wrong to label someone that was killed by the Congress Black Cats as a traitor to the Panth - unless one views the period 1977-1997 as some sort of victory for the Panth.

Like I said please don't view today's Badal Dal as being of the same level of honesty as older Akali Dal Leadership that initiated the campaign for the Anandpur Sahib Resolution ...

If we as a Panth can realise that two Sikhs equally committed to the Panth in their own way can have different visions of how to reach our same shared obvious goals then we will make greater progress than by labelling everyone who we disagree with as a traitor or RSS supporter or Congress stooge.

vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh

To label Sant Jarnail Singh Ji as a congressi is betraying Santji and his mission, this is done to try to take away the love the Sangat has for Sant ji, this is what the nangs do by saying why did Santji stay in Sri Harmandir Sahib etc?

There is a subtle campaign going on the make Santji into a uneducated and normal person by a section of our community for whatever reasons.

Sant ji only stood against the akalis and sgpc due to the reasons we see today them 2 organisations have no gurmat or principles of Sikhi. When Sant ji fought the sgpc elections it was on the manifesto of best person for SIKHI ie the best person for the job may he be akali or congressi.

As for the sadh longowal he betrayed the quam when he took oath to fight for the Dharam Yudh Morcha and betrayed the Quam when he and the rest of the socalled akalis left Sri Harmandir Sahib and walkout over the dead bodies of the Sangat then shock hands with the tyrant rajiv Gandhi the killer of 1000s of Sikhs.

The singhs who killed longowal were Gursikhs Shaheed Bhai Jarnail Singh Halwara and Bhai Gian Singh (alive) this was done under the Command of the Panj Member Panthic Committee.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
