we don't believe in satan (or a devil figure) though, do we?

There is alot scriputres about Satan in Sri Granth, like this one:

"Cursed are the lives of those who read and write the Lord's Name to sell it.

Their crop is devastated - what harvest will they have?

Lacking truth and humility, they shall not be appreciated in the world hereafter.

Wisdom which leads to arguments is not called wisdom.

Wisdom leads us to serve our Lord and Master; through wisdom, honor is obtained.

Wisdom does not come by reading textbooks; wisdom inspires us to give in charity.

Says Nanak, this is the Path; other things lead to Satan. "

Since Nanak have said this, there is Satan. By denying it, you deny pretty much existence of waheguru aswell.

there's no Satan.

It's actually "Kalyug" - period where "maya" is prevalent. "Maya" is the "illusion" (thinking world and wordly things are permamnent and we can be happy by attaining them). It has satanic aspects like vices - jealousy, show-off, hatred, hunger for power, wealth, fame, other temporary wordly desires, having no compassion & respect for other and forgetting God and doing all wrong deeds under the influence of pride/ego, greed, anger, lust and attachement of wordly things.

And one's own mind is the biggest Satan, If you can conquer your own mind and surrender to God's will, means you've won over Satan

No bro, no such thing as satan in Sikhism. When sri guru nanak dev ji talks about satan in scriptures he is talking to muslims mostly to fix up because they believe in that sort of thing so for them to listen to his message he has to use terms things they understand and similarly when he talks to hindus in scripture he talks about hindu gods ram, krishna, brahma, etc these gods dont exist they are metaphors for the qualities of God an for hindus to understand the message of the Guru these terms are used. So since you was a christian for you to understand Sikhism and guru ji's message you can relate when he talks abt satan. There is no such dark character in Sikhism unlike abrahmic religions, Sikhs believe there is dark thoughts and dark energies that you can chose to be good or bad those who chose bad thoughts bad actions will suffer in this life and the next. Those who choose good thoughts and good actions will be liberated after this life is over.

Bhaaji, they do exist. Gurbani says Vaheguru has created them.

Ahh, well seems like I've got it wrong. I personally believe that there is Satan.

Well, where these "Dark energies" comes from, if not from Satan?

I've been meaning to make an analysis on this for quite some time. I have seen striking similarities between Satan as mentioned in the Abrahamic scriptures and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. At the end of the day, many of the great world religions have similarities in them. I won't do this now as I have not got the time but there does seem to be a personification of Maya as some sort of entity numerous times in Gurbani, and it seems to be more than a metaphor at times. I recall a tuk (passage) I read some time ago about how 'she' (Maya) was a helper at first but then turned into something else altogether. This is similar to the story of the devil being an angel and then rebelling against God. There are also stories of where great Sikh Saints like Baba Nand Singh Ji actually talked to and was confronted by Kali Yuga (maybe Maya itself) and it was actually an entity. I am not saying I am right but I think this is something Sikhs should maybe look into and ponder over.

Genie my friend, I'm afraid you are wrong, the Hindu gods actually do exist as mentioned in JapJi Sahib. But we as Sikhs are not supposed to pray to them. There is a difference between believing in (as in believing if they exist) and not believing in them as in not believing that you have to pray to them.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
