Six men have been jailed for paying or offering to pay a "vulnerable and damaged" 16-year-old girl for sex.

Leicester Crown Court heard she had been used as a "sexual commodity" and left with internal injuries.

The girl told the men she was a prostitute, but the judge said they should have seen she was vulnerable and helped her.

The men, whose ages range from 20 to 39, were jailed for between eight months and five years.

Three pleaded guilty at their first appearance at Leicester Crown Court and three pleaded guilty part-way through a trial.

Judge Michael Pert QC said: "This case is a classic example of the need for the law to protect young girls from their own folly as well as from their exploitation by men."

'Good Sikh family'

Rakib Iacub was the first of the men to have sex with the victim, after they met by chance at a Diwali festival.

The 20 year old was jailed for three years for two counts of paying for the sexual services of a child, and one charge of facilitating child prostitution.

He then introduced his 39-year-old friend, Aabidali Mubarak Ali, to the girl, and Judge Pert said Ali was responsible for "spreading the word" about the girl.

Judge Pert said: "While it is fair to say that none of the defendants played any part in her decision to prostitute herself, it is equally true to say that anyone meeting her would immediately have realised that this was a vulnerable 16-year-old girl from a good Sikh family, who was embarking upon a disastrous course of action."

Restaurant attacked

Ali was jailed for five years for two counts of paying for the sexual services of a child and one count of facilitating child prostitution.

The men had sex with the girl at various locations across Leicester, including a flat above the Moghul Durbar restaurant in East Park Road.

A group of people later attacked the restaurant, and Wajid Usman was assaulted during the attack.

Usman, an illegal immigrant from Afghanistan who claims not to know his date of birth but is thought to be 22, was jailed for two years for paying for sexual services of a child.

Hamza Imtiazali, 28, was jailed for two years for paying for the sexual services of a child and for two counts of facilitating child prostitution.

Bharat Modhwadia, 25, was jailed for 16 months for paying for the sexual services of a child, inciting child pornography, and trafficking the girl by driving her to a location for sex.

Chandresh Mistry, 37, was jailed for eight months for trying to pay for the sexual services of a child.

He used Facebook to arrange to have sex with the girl, but they did not have sex because he became aware of the police investigation.

It is good that justice has been served. However, we must remain proactive and keep the foot on the pedal. We must understand that the Mini Cab/Halal Fried Chicken nexus is very well connected with the drug and pimp/prostitution trade. These types will go into "Hudabaiya" mode and bide their time and try again.

What this news story must now do is awaken all the sikh parents eyes and. Make them become more assertive in how they bring up their kids. Dometimes tough love is what is needed to ensure kids are kept away from danger. But ultimatley parents need to stop it from occuring in the first place. Prevention is the best for of action then treatment.

Girls must wise up and not become deluded and think muslim guys are good people at heart. To many sikh girls have become victims . Its time you learnt what being areal Sikh means and not becoming some muslims poodle and losing all your self respect.

This is what happens when sikh girls become stubborn and think they know it all then just get used and abused and come crying home. After theyve turnef their backs on their own. Ad tuff ad it may seem. You only have yourselved to blame. Even if your parents have not guided you properly, you dtill have a brain.
