I think every Singh needs to learn some sort of self defence. Our look makes us stand out from the crowd.

I was a mona and have only been wearing a pagh for about a month now. I realise this makes me more of a target to such animals.

I will be learning some sort of boxing/martial arts and increase my weight through weightlifting.

Think of Baba Deep Singh and Hari Singh Nalwa, they must have been so strong and fit. That is how every Singh should be. Not a pot bellied lagar lout or someone whose staple diet is greasy aloo paranthas!

Be in optimal condition so that even if you cannot fight them, make sure you are quick enough to get away if worst comes to worst. Practice sprints, especially hill sprints, not only will you get faster, you will also develop big powerful legs.

This is a Singh from my hometown, he's a promising MMA fighter, not the tallest but strongly built. I can guarantee you that he would take out any Pakistani, including Amir Khan.

All Sikhs, male or female should practice some form of self defence. I have a 17 month old son and as soon as he is old enough I wil make sure hehas the opportunity to get involved with karate or boxing, 2 sports I have been involved in for aprox 20 years.

It gives you the confidence to stand up to these moronic paki's, and morons in general. And 99% of the time it doesnt lead to violence anyway as the other party will generaly back down when they see you have no fear of defending yourself

But as said above, first we need to stop fighting with each other and start backing each other up

How do you know they are Pakistanis though? I've had the same sort of experiences and it just makes you want to knock someone out. When some mona says 'Oh Singhhhe' in some crack addict voice. They single you out because you are a Singh and conceptualise you. But I've had this come from mona Sikhs as well and at times I can't tell if it's a Muslim or Sikh or whoever.

One time I was in the car waiting for someone and some <banned word filter activated> pointed at me and shouted out 'Singh!!' and said alright and was laughing. I just blanked him, lol. And his mates were like ooooh. But they were Sikhs, I'm pretty sure of it. One was a Sikh as he was wearing a patka and it was a heavily Sikh populated area.

I'd want to knock them out. Doesn't matter if they were Muslims or Sikhs or Hindus. Hasn't happened to me in ages but I've told myself next time it happens, I'm going to confront them about it, whoever they are. Hopefully, it won't come to blows but who knows.

In fact, it's more annoying if they were Monne Sikhs as they are the last people you would expect of taking the mick out of you. The others, it's kind of expected.

It happened another time too on the train. I was with another Singh and his wife and these bozos walked past and shouted 'Oh Singheh!! I actually looked back and was ready to confront them but we were getting on the train and they were getting off. It was too late.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
