I am 24 years old I am living with my parents and the parents are not very religious people. I have been wearing all my 5k's for sometime now, but my parents won't let me take amrit, yet I am already wearing all the kakars (including kirpan). I don't want to disrespect my parents but I am not sure what to do... Even if I take the amrit how will they know as I am already wearing my kakars? They said just keep doing what you are doing but don't take amrit... Should I just take amrit as we are having a sanchar in my area soon, or should I wait? I feel like guru ji is holding my hand but my parents want me to break that tie to the guru... Kalyug!

Thank you for any help!

waheguru ji khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

then don't tell your parents, you are already wearing your kakars, once you have khande bate de pahul they can't do anything. if they are not religious, believe me they never ever will let you to join khalsa panth. Panth needs young singhs, singhignias. i was 17 when i asked my mother to have khande bate di pahul. everyone was ok with the decision, next morning i and my friend were going to take Amirt. i was so happy.next morning i woke up with the heart filled with true happiness but my mom said you are not going, your friend's mother was here she said she had convinced her daughter not do that because we cann't find amritdhari husband for you, so do it after your marriage. so my mom did the same thingh. After three years i got married my parents found mona Sharab drinker husband for me. i could not do anything. all the hopes for joining panth was vanished. later my two children k.g. and grade two asked me to have amirt i said ok my dear go for it. and i also got with them. this time i did not tell my husband. because he already refused me. but the problem was i could not get it alone. i children sat in bus. i parked my vehicle in parking and taking to guru asked guru ji i am alone without my husband people who going for amrit will laugh at me. if some can see me and ask me do you want to go for amrit, then i will go. in few min. a singh came and asked me bhenji tusi naji jana? don't think do much aa jao. then i jumped out of my van did see behind until today, Guru ji with me

good luck

sorry, for the mistakes in the above post. i meant to say after i did Amrit Paan i didn't see behind because now Guru ji is with me showing me the path where to go, what to do, how to speak how to feel. waheguru is everywhere. people always pull our legs when we do something good, but keep on doing ardass, guru ji will take care the rest. if your doing something good do it even your parents are not allowing, but it is Guru Gobind Singh ji's hukam, who sacrified their four sahibjade, his father and his dear sikhs for us. Nothing is above Guru Gobind singh ji.

Good luck,

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki Fateh

WJKK WJKF,

Today with guru's kirpa I received amrit and I truly feel blessed. Thank you k1968 and MrKhalsa007 for all your help. I will tell my parents when I am ready. I think i am going to keep quiet about the issue for a while. I was already wearing my kakars, and now I will stay quiet and keep with my rehat and will tell them when I think it will be right...

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
