Can Someone Tell Me Where This Shabad Is From?

Recommended Posts

Ssinghuk, -I'm sorry but nothing is out of context.

Kachi bani means that it is NOT the true word of Shabad guru and our normal bani becomes kachi when people dilute it and add there own words or refrains.

Ranjit Singh above is also a very suitable candidate for kachi bani and I have heard him do it live !!!- He was adding ''Ucha dar babe nanak da'' in between shabads. There is nothing wrong with doing this on tape or outside the Gurdwara, BUT when in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib ji, then kachi or diluted bani should NOT be practiced.

Also, as in the op video, one shouldn't be singing other poetry in the same kirtan style whilst in presence of Guruji. AND- KIRTAN can only be called Kirtan if it is from the Guru Granth sahibji, Bhai Gurdas ji or Bhai Nand Laa ji., anything else is NOT kirtan and this includes other works of all the Bhagats that are not in SGGSji.

I think I understand what kachi bani is, so if you want to ask more and are not sure then please do so and I shall try and answer to the best of my knowledge.

Veerjee, you obviously haven't listened to the video in which Baba Ranjit Singh clearly outlines what is kachee banee. TuhinTuhin has also provided you with more material describing what kachee banee is and isn't (though I've not had the opportunity to listen to this yet).

By your thinking, kaveesharees and dhadi vaaran are also culprits for kachee banee?

First of all, one should know that AKJ doesn't sing kachi-bani. If you knew anything about AKJ, you would know that. Just because it's Giani Gurdev Singh Jee or AKJ, people start hating. Do you also know that Giani Gurdev Singh Jee has done Keertan at Darbar Sahib, Bangla Sahib, etc? So please leave the random politics out of this.

Second of all, it is very interesting Lucky Singh Jee, that you left out Dasam Granth Sahib and Sarbloh Granth Sahib out of your list of what can be sung in Keertan and what is Gurbani. Very similar to a video of missionaries like Dhunda misleading the Sangat. Akal Takhat Sahib and Mahan Kosh are very clear on this subject...

As per Sikh Rehat Maryada:

Chapter V - Kirtan

Article VI - Kirtan (Devotional Hymn Singing by a Group or an individual)

a. Only a Sikh may perform kirtan in a congregation.

b. Kirtan means singing and scriptural compositions in traditional musical measures.

c. In the congregation, kirtan only of Gurbani (Guru Granth’s or Guru Gobind Singh’s hymns) and, for its

elaboration, of the compositions of Bhai Gurdas and Bhai Nand Lal, may be performed.

d. It is improper, while singing hymns to rhythmic folk tunes or to traditional musical measures, or in team

singing, to induct into them improvised and extraneous refrains. Only a line from the hymn should be a

refrain.

We also need to read uthanka(historical event) behind gurbani talking about kachi bani to understand more about what is kachi bani.

Nevertheless, Kachi bani would be mixing deliberately one's own writing within gurbani stanzas via editing- audio/visual/video or any other form for that matter. Rest are all dharnas, kavita sung in prem of sargun/nirgun akaal purkh.

Here is the recent example of kachi bani..its from this pseduo chelas of this pseudo kusant trying to mimic/infuse his own name in gurbani.

Here is the picture..this is prime example of kachi bani:

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
