Bhramastra is an older version of nuclear weapon. Atom bombs is the discovery of science.But it would be strange to know that such weapons with dangerous results is not new on this planet earth.It was already present though in some other form.Bhramastra has been used many times by rama in ramayan .

Raghupati raaghav ram proposed to use this weapon in indian ocean to make way to sri lanka but varuna (god of water ) appeared and told rama its deadly effects if used on water so rama directed it towards purva disha where lies todays Rajasthan (thar desert ) .This weapon caused the land to become barren and desert.

Bhramashira - This weapon was created by bhrama and as bhrama had 4 heads ,the power of this was 4 times the power of bhramastra.This weapon (bhramshira )is the most powerful weapon used till now .IN mahabharat , Ashwattam and Arjuna had a fight and ashwattam created a bhramashira and was ready to attack with it on arjuna .As a result arjuna also took bhramashira .Now collision of 2 bhramashiras could destroy planet earth completely so rishi vyas told arjuna to take his bhramashira back.Arjuna agreed but ashwattam didnt knew how to take it back so he directed this bhramashira to unborn grandchild of arjuna

parikshit. Now parikshit was inside the womb of uttara and ashwattam directed this weapon to the womb of uttara .Uttara pleaded krishna to save the unborn child .krishna assured uttara to save the child from the rays of this astra .Inside the womb this unborn child saw a fiery form enter whose rays were almost burning him. Then this child saw a divine being enter the womb who was wearing golden crown and silk robes .This divine being moved around him and destroyed this bhramashira and remained inside till the child was safely born.This divine being was krishna who entered the womb of uttara to destroy the weapon.The child

was born safely and named parikshit .

Such weapons have been used in treta yug and dwapar yug .

Thar desert (Rajasthan) is the proof of its use.

This weapon in the form of atomic bomb will surely be used but one thing to be noted is that whenever this weapon was used there was an avatar in physical form to reduce the deadly effects.

Now in kalyug there are some mahapurakhs who have shifted the events of world war 3 and are reducing itd deadly effects with their kamai.

Mahabharat marked the end of dwapar yug and kalyug started after it.

Similarily world war 3 will be the end of kalyug and will mark the beginning of 14000 year golden age (satyug) within kalyug.
