A question for my fellow brothers....I just started keeping untrimmed daari.. and I am wondering what you guys use (oils, or other gels?) to make it straighter and look cleaner? it looks messy right now and I see alot of brothers with very neat and well kept daari's. Also is it manmat for amrithdhari to comb their hair/beard with a brush or other comb besides a kanga?

I had the same problem when mine was growing. I would say let it grow long and then start combing. You'll have enough Daari to comb. Tie it after you shower for a few minutes.

I used to get judged by people for not combing my beard but no-one had taught me the right way. After shower when my face is wet, I apply about 1 tablespoon of mustard oil called saron da tel in Punjab. Apply generously depending on your beard's length, but I just need 1 tablespoon. Then use a thick spaced comb to comb your beard. The mixture of water and oil will make your beard amazingly soft and easier to comb.

After i wash my face and dhari, pat dry, comb, pat down with hands- boom! Let it flow brother :)

Gel is a no no in my opinion. Looks so odd and its gotta b uncomfortable. Plus it flakes so it looks like youv got dandruf issues with your dhari lol. And oil smells...looks greasy...eek
