Its easy to say no.

thats what i do , everyone knows thats why they do not invite me to such a place

if your work looks at hard work and your skills they can have bussiness talk with you in work as well

if not then do not go into politics

Invite those in management position to your house for dinner or some kind of event, if management might see you not interested in the organization. Regardless of whether they accept the offer. Management will know you are interested in getting to know more about the organization and build better relations.

There are other ways to show initiative in an organization.

Dont go. Would you go to brothel though you have no intention of getting involved with the acts that are commited there?

Also, you as an amritdhari, represent a nation. People see you walking into a pub, they'll assume sikhs drink. People see you with coke in your hand, they'll assume ur drinkin coke n vodka. Etc.

As for professional development, im sure you do plenty of that in a professional environment. Not a pub.
