BABA RANJIT SINGH KHALSA DHADRIANWALE VISITS PEACEFUL HUNGER STRIKE ACTIVIST BHAI GURBAKSH SINGH TO SUPPORT THE RELEASE OF INNOCENT SIKHS LANGUISHING IN INDIAN JAILS

30th November 2013, Mohali – The Sikh nations esteemed Parchaarak Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale is believed to have visited Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa earlier this morning at Gurdwara Amb Sahib, Ajitgarh (Mohali).

Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is at present on a hunger protest with a pledge to carry on until death, unless authorities free political Sikh prisoners that have long served their sentences but still languishing in Indian jails without justification.

The peaceful campaign is aimed at freeing five particular Sikhs - Bhai Gurmit Singh, Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh (who are confined in Burail Jail, Chandigarh since 1995), Bhai Lal Singh (who was arrested in 1992 by Gujarat police and is currently confined in Nabha, Maximum Security Jail) and Bhai Gurdip Singh (who is confined in Gurbarg Jail, Karnataka for the last 23 years). These individuals have served their terms of sentence but have not been released by the respective state governments.

Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa, who have been speaking on this topic during their Gurmat Diwaans, have said they will offer their full commitment to any campaign instigated to free innocent individuals or those who have served their legal sentence, but have not been released.

During the open meeting, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is said to have requested Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa to visit him again on Monday 2nd December 2013. Baba Ranjit Singh, who if necessary will cancel scheduled Diwaans in order to fulfil the request, have made it clear that for any such cause, they will make it their priority to provide any support they are asked.

Unfortunately, there have been little or no reports whether any major Sikh organisations and high-profile personalities have visited the protesting Sikh in order to give moral support.

News Update: 11:00pm, 7 December 2013, Mohali - After the arrest of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, it was decided by the Sikh organisations that Bhai Damandeep Singh, a Sikh youth from Ludhiana, would continue with the peaceful hunger strike at Gurdwara Amb Sahib whilst Bhai Gurbaksh Singh remains imprisoned in Ropar Jail. Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale has visited Bhai Damandeep Singh this evening to show the young Sikh support. Sikhs must continue to display solidarity towards the cause to free Sikh prisoners who continue to languish in Indian jails after the completion of their legal sentences.
