Waheguru ji ka khalsa

Waheguru ji ki fateh

Gurdwara Committee's members are primarily property managers so what to expect.

If you want to do Gurmat prachaar then feed the poor, give them clothes & provide shelter.

Daya is foremost virtue of Khalsa.

As per Gurbani

Dhhaal Dhharam Dhaeiaa Kaa Pooth ||

The mythical bull is Dharma, the son of compassion;

(no Dharam without Mother Daya)

Moreso if you want Waheguru's grace then give care to Needy.

Neechaa Andhar Neech Jaath Neechee Hoo Ath Neech ||

Nanak seeks the company of the lowest of the low class, the very lowest of the low.

That's the reason why Karamsar attracts more Sangat compared to SevenKings or Barking.

If parking is a problem, hire Valet Service on special events or volunteer.

I was told a decade back that Committee was interested in acquiring Homebase at 7kings, don't know what happened.

Lastly you don't need buildings to do Prachaar.

It can be done through Internet, Tv & Mobile.

I visited Both Singh Sabha London East and Karamsar in that Era.

My take ( correct me if im wrong) combined factors kicked in

As Sangats were branching outwards from Newham settling across Redbridge it was more convenient then for locals than going back to Neville Rd. Singh Sabha London East Sangat at Barking were attending Karamsar in bigger numbers as the progs and kathaa appealed to them. At the time Barking Committee had little going on. When anything was suggested it fell on deaf ears.

Barking should spend money wisely, invest in Youth, renovate with minimal... The atmosphere in a Gurdwara is best when its simple just look at Old Havelock. That feeling of love ekta seva warmth preservation of portraits. Once the Old building fell for the MultiMillion Pound one it may still have numbers but the feeling is now very different. Lots of folk have fond memories from the Old building. I met Bhai Rama Singh there first time.

More money making schemes and construction work for jobless builders rather than money helping get the youth involved in gurdwara life and sikhi parchar.

I bet these peoples daughters and sisters and pubbing and clubbing and sleeping around with all sorts. Because you know one thing...those so called Sikhs who do not concentrate their energies on doing Sikhi parchar and catering to the needs of the youth within Sikhism are the ones who often pay for it with their family's reputation, standing and izzat destroyed in front of the whole community.

Guys you shouldn't depend on Committee's for doing Seva or Prachaar.

Just be a Gursikh (word & deed) that in itself is best prachaar.

During my stay in London, it came to my notice that born & bred brits hardly help in daily Seva.

Hoover, mopping, dish wasing, preparing langar and other daily chores were done by people of Indian origin.

There is no Shabad Chownki at the time of Sukhaasan where Sikhs can come together and sing Shabads out of love not for fame or money.

Gurbani clearly states that

Giaan N Galeeee Dtoodteeai Kathhanaa Kararraa Saar ||

Wisdom cannot be found through mere words. To explain it is as hard as iron.

So what Seva & Prachaar are we talking about !

Lastly if you feel no compassion for lowly & needy in your local community then you should gear up for another London riot & looting.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
