Im due an MRI scan soon and im guessing i will have to take off kara and kirpan? anyone had one?

Look this is for your health. Be sensible and use your brain, if the doctors say it is not safe to have an MRI scan with your kara and kirpan then take them off and put them back on afterwards.

If you had to have brain surgery then wouldn't you remove your pagh?

You should tell them exactly what you have on your body aswell as inside that is metal.

Dont hide them by not telling and certainly do not keep them on if you are advised to take them off.

You will be told to take them off, as when i went for mine i could not have anything metal on me.

You have to sign a form too that you have done what they advised.

The responsibility is on You to tell them what you have on, otherwise if you ignore their advise you will get zapped up by the machine.

Even a zip is not allowed in those machines. Only buttons which are not metal, but plastic.

You should wear loose clothing with no fasteners or metal attachments.

To be honest i can't see you being allowed an Mri with them on, i think they will not allow it for your own safety. You will get a letter stating what you should not wear. Use some common sense in this situation please, where metal and magnets are concerned Guruji would excuse that for your own benefit.

Remember no zips or belts either, anything metal tell them.

This is not like taking a medicine, those machines can cause damage with metal, that's why they ask if you have a pacemaker or any metal clips in your body too.

Anything metallic has to be removed, even pins, glitter etc. are not allowed. It's best to wear clothes with zero metal, such as metal stud, or zipper.

On the plus side, you are allowed to take your own cd, which you can listen to, via their own earphones, during the scan. Take a Gurbani cd, and they will play it for you....

A metal rod in the body is not the same as a kirpan and kara, both of which can be removed easily.

I'm guessing a person with a metal rod cannot have an MRI scan.
