Blood For Kirpan ?

Wjkk wmwjkf is it true if you take out a kirpan you have to put blood on it to put it back ? What if you have to show someone the kirpan ? Or at a kirpan shop ? If I do open it should I cut my finger alittle for blood

That's what a lot of amrit dhari's tell people when they're asked to pull out their kirpan, It's just to scare them so they don't ask again. But the saying probably has a deeper meaning (not completely sure on that).

I heard this a lot while I was a Kid. Its usually to scare so kids don't mess with kirpan or hurt themselves. It could have deeper meaning but lets get practical, you have to take your kirpan out to clean it or sharpen it. Would you cut yourself all the time? LOL

Deeper meaning would imply that there would be a Rehatnama or some historical documentation to support this behavior as a valid practice. If it exists, please post it.

I think this phrase derives from the fact that a gursikh who has been gifted a Kirpaan and Shastar when initiated into the khalsa panth must never draw his weapon in a situation what does not require it to be drawn, as the only situation when the Kirpaan should be drawn is when all other paths for resolve have been explored to no avail in protection of someone else, injustice or self protection.

No we don't need to put blood on our kirpan to put it back its just a saying to scare others so they don't poke you and ask you again and again to show them the kirpan 

Because we are only allowed to take out kirpan out if we don't have any other way of protecting others or for self protection
