Why do we do parkarma clockwise and why is it considered taboo to go anti clockwise even at Darbar sahib if you go past a certain point you have to back all the way around.

That is all brahm, all superstitons, can u or someone answer,is there any place there where is not a trace of Wahiguru?

Any either way we may go,only Wahiguru will be met.

But we live in a society of rules and regulations, so in order not to crratr a scene, sometimes it is better to overlook it,as long as we know it is not going to harm anybody

its a puratan maryada to keep a person reciting bani on your right and always infront of you

our guru's followed it rigirously

same principal lies when doing parikrama

people use their manmat in dargahi maryada ,

same were the people present in guru sahibs time , same they are now

they who do will have to answer it later at dargah

follow maryada and leave everything else on guru sahib

Why do we follow traffic rules Left/Right hand drive, to avoid Chaos as well as Accidents.

Same logical principle applies to Darbar Sahib.

lol must be one of a very few places in india where they follow rules or traffic rules. good question some people just dont know the reasons behind a particular rule/ tradition and so far no one has given a clear answer, i dont know why either.

The right side is considered spiritual and more positive.

It's always west to east in terms of our human conduction in free will.

The right sided-ness is considered more positive and good action, although most people are quick to jump on mark of superstition. But all these superstitions originate from religions.

Even jesus says enter the temple from the right or eastern door !

Anhad shabads are or should be heard from the Right ear if they are the divine sounds.

Gurmukhi is written from West to east, or starting from left to right.

In english etiquette, the man always walks on the right side of woman, walks around dining table towards right, puts right foot first, right hand first..etc.....etc..

Going RIGHT is the RIGHT way....and that's all there is to it

The RIght side is considered more positive and spiritual.and left is more ego and self.

We write gurmukhi from left to right, we read from left to right.or west to east.

All around the world the right side is considered GOOD and Positive action from our free will. Most people are quick to jump to the superstition wagon, but even these mostly originate from religion.

Even jesus said enter the temple from the right or eastern door.

The Anhad shabad are listened and heard from the RIGHT ear if they are divine.

In posh English etiquette a man walks on the RIGHT of woman, opens door with right hand, puts right foot and right hand first..etc..

On circular dining table he leaves by going clockwise. Puts right shoe on first, right glove...etc..

basically RIGHT is the right way.

This right handedness is popular throughout the world.

I also believe that the batta in amrit sanchar is stirred in right sided clockwise motion as well. and the kara is usually worn on right hand if posiible

Right side is always more superior. Therefore, we walk from the left to the right. Nihangs argue their shastar should always be closer to guru sahib and thats why some walk the other way round.

im sure there is a hadith saying a person should always dress from the right, and enter a house/building right foot first. maybe thats where all of this "right" stuff has come from.

the truth is it means nothing to go clockwise. it's just a tradition, nihangs walk anti because of their martial stance with kirpan.

When there was an open parikrama at Darbar Sahib, I'm not even sure that sangat walk the parikrama. Darbar Sahib layout back in the day was very different from today.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
