Eating While Listening To Bani - Is It A Bad Idea?

Recommended Posts

No...Gurbani/Simran is something that one should be engaged in 24/7 ideally.

Vaheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguroo Ji Ki Fateh,

Jpsingh2 Ji,

In reponse to your question, Daas's humble opinion is that it's not Beadbi or a bad idea to be listening to Bani while engaged in eating. In fact, I would recommend it.

Daas's humble opinion is that Bani makes anything Pavitaar (Pure, Clean) so listening to Bani while eating cannot be a bad thing.

Plus, as MS514 has stated, we should be reciting and listening to Bani at all times. If its while your eating food, why not feed your soul at the same time.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Due to my internet browser, I have been unable to view your YouTube video, but I'm assuming it was Keertan or GurBani

What’s with attributing laws and dogma to everything? Is this not dogmatic and ritualistic? Something Sikhi preaches against!

Sikhi isn't about do's and don'ts. How is eating going to affect bani in the slightest? The same bani that calls out the Brahmins and priests who claimed they were pure, by doing rituals and holding certain beliefs.

Of course eating is fine, prashad is given from next to the SGGS palanquin, langar is prepared and eaten while bani is read.

well FancyBanana I'm sure even you would consider it.wrong to bring you plate from the langar hall to the darbar sahib divan. Thanks for.the.replies I did do it twice was moving all weekend so didnt do it recently.. but it was really enjoyable. I hate all the filth and dried up stuff that comes on 75% of TV so I stopped watching tv listening to news or using facebook for some time. I still probably should read news more but anyways back to the topic I guess its only wrong to eat your own food infront of SGGS Ji but listening to select shabads at home.is fine
