New Takht Outside India Led By Panj Pyaare

Sadh Sangat ji on the 1984 London Rally on sunday Bhai Jugraj Singh ji mentioned on his speech that we need a Takht in UK led by panj pyaare.

What's your view on his speech?

I just found this on the internet hopefully his speech will come online soon.

Very good idealistic approach but to make it realistic let's work on first I would like to see panj pyares selected one from each jathebandi-akj, taksal, nihang, nanaksar,sant Samaj (with 70 percent

approval vote from each jathebandi ) get together work out differences comprises where they see fit by looking at greater cause for panth or bigger aim in panth greater good for panth and become ONE VOICE and after those respected panj pyares hold amrit Sanchar consistently for a year then we can safely talk about having western takth.

It shouldn't be that difficult as utam jaigaso/sensible followers of each jathebandi which are now only 20% have already left their differences aside but issue is they need to step up become the actual voice in the panth than letting other 80% of over zealous followers in each group becoming loud voices causing all kind of tribal wars and divisions within each other.

Indeed a great idea - however what will be its' aims: police the gurdwara in the uk ? or and do amrit sancharrs? why not just have a group i.e Gurdwara sudhaar lehar type movement. We have tons of issues - I will ask my local Gurdwara committee types to see what is their reaction.I also think without communicating with all th eGurdwara in the UK this step would not be wise, Im sure Jagraj Singh is aware of that anyway.

No matter how hard we bash the Gurdwara they do need funds at to survive and the only way that is through weddings Akand paaths etc. but i agree a lot ot these are not done with marayada. So if we are going to for a Takht will it require funding from all of the Gurdwara or will it create ideas for these Gurdwaras to survive without the need of huge costs of weddings etc.

I think its a bold move and needs a lot veechar - would love to see more input on it here.

The idea of pilot offices of the Akal Takhat in all major cities with a large Sikh populous has been discussed off and on for the last decade if not more :lol2:

HERE'S ANOTHER IDEA.

Now with globalisation maybe we could have 5 Takhts in each continent. Europe, Asia, Americas, Africa & Oceania Takhts.

Maybe have a flag with 5 Khandas like the Olympic flag (this is probably going a bit too far).

1.All the Takhts (minus Damdama Sahib, Sabo Ki Talwandi) were established & called 'Takht' by Guru Sahiban themselves. It does not seem appropriate for us to establish something and call it a Takht & say it is an authority.

Some breif info on Takhts established by Guru Sahibans

Akal Takht- 6th Guru

Harimandhir Sahib, Patna- 9th Guru

Anandpur Sahib - 10th Guru

Hazoor Sahib - 10th Guru

2. Damdama Sahib was delcared a Takht by SGPC in 1960 after many Sikhs demanded for it to be declared so. Even then, Guru Ki Kashi has been an important Sikh center if not a Takht since Guru Sahib's time as Baba Deep Singh jee was left in charge of it. (lets keep it for another thread)

3.Guru Sahib has blessed us with Sri Akal Takht Sahib-nothing can equate it nor ever will.

Yes, its authority has been compromised with but the problem lies with the weak and corrupt leadership within Sikhs themselves NOT the Takht Sahib.

The problem is the Sikh leadership is devoid of Gurmat Spirituality...hence, lacking the conscience to serve the Guru Panth.

What guarantee is there the Takht established in the west wont get compromised with feuds and corruption over time?

4. Our current Takhts need to be made independent from outside influence and Jathedaar chosen for Seva need to be of proper jivan guided by 5 piare in the presence of SGGS. (which is not happening now..hence, the talk for a new takht)

As far as I know when the 5 Singh Sahiban meet, its never done in the presence of SGGS. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I second what Guruvah has said.

The takhts have stood the course of time because they've been set by Gurus. We kaljugi jeevs cant copy that.
