Did Guru Nanak Dev Ji Really Move The Kaaba?

I think the moving bit was written literally, janamsakhis were written in poetically. while yes guru nanak did visit mecca. what I don't understand is though why are we told not to point our feet towards the guru granth sahib, when guru nanak said it doesn't matter what his feet face because god is everywhere!!!

The difference is by pointing your feet towards SGGS you are disrespecting, but pointing your feet towards the kaaba claiming god resides there when god exists everywhere. Apparently historic shrines and old mosques are being destroyed left, right and centre in Saudi Arabia.

There is no sentimentality in mosques with the Wahabbi types, they are just seen as places to read namaz.

Regarding guru jis feet towards kaba: Muslims pray wherever they are towards the direction where kaba is literally because that's where they think allah is. 'Inside' Gurus darbar there are certain rules like showing Respect towards the guru which helps in your spiritual upliftment and Guidance. We have many Gurdwaras but do not specifically pray in a particular direction or gurdwara - not even towards Harmandir sahib, Amritsar when being in western world or elsewhere across the globe.

I really wanted to avoid getting into this, but anyways.....

So basically what Maskeen jee said in one of his kathas (which I was unable to find on Youtube but heard it a long while back) was an explaination of Bhagat Naamdev Jee's shabad.

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
As Naam Dayv uttered the Glorious Praises of the Lord,

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕਉ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਫਿਰੈ ॥੩॥੬॥
The temple turned around to face the Lord's humble devotee. ||3||6||

Maskeen jee admits that just like several of you on here, he too used to think that this entire turning of the Kaaba was a metaphor used by Bhai Gurdas Jee. But on a visit to the temple in Maharashtra mentioned in the Shabad, Maskeen jee came across a writing on the temple wall which actually authenticates this claim that the temple DID MOVE. Believe it or not, the Pandits there themselves confess to it, that Bhagat Naamdev Jee (who in their language was a lower caste) did worship there and the temple turned.

Most of you guys obviously wouldn't have a clue that Hindu temples (for whatever reason) are always facing east. Guess what, this particular temple is the only one on planet earth that faces west. No, it was not constructed that way, it ACTUALLY turned as the Shabad states. If a Bhagat of Vaheguru can make such a thing take place, what is there to stop Guru Sahib Himself?

ਟੰਗੋਂ ਪਕੜਿ ਘਸੀਟਿਆ ਫਿਰਿਆ ਮਕਾ ਕਲਾ ਦਿਖਾਰੀ।
Catching hold of the legs he lynched (Baba Nanak) and lo and behold the miracle, the whole of Mecca seemed to be revolving.

All got surprised and they all bowed.

I wouldn't blame you guys if you didn't understand any other Indian language outside of Punjab, but I would have expected you to have at least some understanding of Punjabi. "ਫਿਰਿਆ" here means "turned around", "ਹੋਇ" here is plural, referring to how ALL the people there were shocked (ਹੈਰਾਨੁ). What next? "ਕਰੇਨਿ ਜੁਹਾਰੀ", they ALL bowed to Guru Sahib. So, it was not just Jeevan who saw Kaaba turning, it was ALL of them, thus ALL were shocked, and ALL bowed to Guru Sahib. And no this is NOT used metaphorically. Neither Guru Sahib nor Bhai Gurdas Jee loved telling fairy tales, they spoke only the truth.

Couple of questions.

Those asking "If Guru Sahib pointed His feet towards Kaaba, whats wrong if I point my feet towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib". My question is, are any of those guys at Guru Sahib's level? Guru Sahib did that to teach a priceless lesson, that Vaheguru is everywhere (something those Islamic convert seekers don't accept to this day when they come on here asking "so is your god also there where there is sewage?"). What lesson are those folks trying to teach when they point their feet to Maharaj's saroop?

Secondly, do these guys know the difference between the Kaaba and Maharaj's saroop? Ask a Sunni, Shia, Christian, Jew about the Kaaba, they will have a different definition of it. Hang on, spare Google for now. Has anyone of you ever bothered asking one of these people what the Kaaba is for them? Try it, you will be even more confused because none of them have a single definition. Oh and don't forget asking your favorites, the Hindus ofcourse! Their theory puts a Shivling right inside the Kaaba! LOL! You're trying to compare that with Maharaj's saroop? The same Bani given Gurta Gaddee by Sahib-E-Kamaal Dasmesh Pita? Yeah? Really?

Wake up! Guru Sahib had NO intention to disrespect anyone's religion ever. He came to preach the message of truth which everyone had forgotten. He did it whatever way He chose best.

So in the end, as usual, once again...

ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਾ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ ॥
Do those deeds which the Guru has ordained.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਹੇ ਧਾਵਹੁ ॥
Why are you chasing after the Guru's actions?

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਡ ਸਮਰਥਾ ॥
My True Guru is absolutely All-powerful.

My True Guru is adorned with Truth.

My True Guru is the Giver of all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
My True Guru is the Primal Creator Lord, the Architect of Destiny. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਜੈਸਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਦੇਵ ॥
There is no deity equal to the Guru.

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਸੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Whoever has good destiny inscribed on his forehead, applies himself to seva - selfless service. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ॥
My True Guru is the Sustainer and Cherisher of all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੈ ॥
My True Guru kills and revives.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
The glorious greatness of my True Guru

ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥੨॥
Has become manifest everywhere. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਨਿਤਾਣੁ ॥
My True Guru is the power of the powerless.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
My True Guru is my home and court.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru.

ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
One who serves the Guru is not afflicted with fear.

ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
One who serves the Guru does not suffer in pain.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਧੇ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ॥
Nanak has studied the Simritees and the Vedas.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੇਦ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੪॥
There is no difference between the Supreme Lord God and the Guru. ||4||11||24||

Thats what Gurbani says. And based on that, we can say that turning the Kaaba, or ANYTHING, is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for Guru Sahib. Because ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਡ ਸਮਰਥਾ ॥

Where did mention the word miracle? Guru Sahib was much more than just a mere man, and His ਸਮਰਥਾ is way beyond mere miracles.

Abdul Rahman the writer of another book Gunitusalehin (1506-07) was one such person assigned the job. He wrote about his encounter with Guru Nanak in his book: “When I was driving my horse with speed and hurry; my horse stopped abruptly. I tried to move him by kicking and hitting but the horse did not move. I lifted my head to find in front that at a distance of 100 yards the faqirs were seated. The elderly person in the midst of them had a brightened face and an aura around of him more powerful than thousands of suns. This brightness shut my eyes and I had a revelation that I was about to commit a crime. The horse proved better than me who saved me from committing this crime even though I gave him lashes to advance. In front of me is the same Godly person who had moved Mecca mosque. Shah Sharaf and Ruqun-ud-Deen became his devout followers. He has rightly spread the True Name of God among the Arabs and is now in front of me. I regained my senses and thought of doing the right. I immediately saw the reason; left my horse and shoes and fell at his feet.”
