Haryana Announces Separate Sikh Panel For Its Gurdwaras

Recommended Posts

What right does huda have to announce this committee?

Is he even a Sikh?

A little surprised they are trying to do it under a BJP govt, as the Akalis are part of this govt as well.

Still it should open badals eyes a little. Hopefully.

The decision to create a Haryana Prabandak Committee had to be enacted by the state assembly, so a politcians would have to be involved.

If they can have a committee for Delhi then I fail to see why those in Haryana should be denied similar rights.

Maybe if the Akalis of yesteryear had no been so hungry for power they would have got these northern area of what is now Haryana included in Punjab. So desperate were these akalis for power that they <banned word filter activated> on the Sikhs in what is now north haryana.

You mean, Haryana offered to give it's northern areas to Punjab, and Akalis refused?

As for why Haryana should not have a separate committee. It's nothing to do with Delhi's committee. That territory was a part of SGPC since before 1947 and much before an artificial state like Haryana was created in the 60s. The Sikh brothers who are being used by the congress in creating it are disgruntled politicians who just want a piece of the pie. Congress it is just using this as an opportunity to weaken the Sikhs by partitioning the SGPC. First they take Punjabi speaking lands away from Punjab, river water is given free to other states, they carried out the Sikh genocide of the 80s and now SGPC is being partitioned.

The Haryana committee is a good thing. The SGPC has been so corrupted that it is best if Sikhs break off all relations with these bunch of chor and lutere. There is nothing sactosanct about the SGPC anymore, It was the premier Sikh body when it cared about Sikh issues but now when they are happy to just be Badal's chumchas then they lose their right for any respect. Just as the Sikhs need to break the grip of Badal Akali Dal from the politics of Punjab, so also they need to break the control of the SGPC over Sikh religious affairs. Haryana committee, Rajasthan committee etc need to come into existence so that the SGPC just become what it has always wanted to be - a glorified Gurdwara committee whose members are only interested in enriching themselves.

The creation of state level committees won't create disunity amongst Sikhs. It will ensure that at least the charawa and amdan from the land of the Gurdwaras in each state will at least have a chance of being used for the well being of the Sikhs of that state. The money will not as is the case now be taken by the SGPC and bottles of sharab brought with the money to try and elect another Badal crony into power.

Look at one recent example: Delhi gurdwara folks were fighting Cold War with sgpc. Delhi were hosting all anti-panth karhakars- giving unique historic stage time to papi-nindaks like dhunda, gulshan, veer Bhupinder and so on. Sgpc or Akal takht couldn't do anything, even when they tried to do something then Sarna and co. took hundreds of goon to support darshan ragi.

Take the golak out and you will feel NO NEED to make committees. Jokers elect jokers who claim to be closer to god. Managing free flow of money without any financial know how/background in these gurdwaras leads to clashes. It's a big business.

Thanks for informing us about the state govts ability create such a body. I didn't know they had such power.

It's unfair to say that the Akalis had never campaigned ot get panjabi-speaking parts of northern haryana back to Panjab. It was one of the points o f the Anandpur Sahib resolution.

if SGPC is totally corrupted then arent all the rajasthan and haryanvi sgpc members part of that corruption?

IMO a separate haryana committee will not weaken badals grip on the sgpc or panjab.

Can you really see the Sikhs in Haryana doing that? who's to say that the present haryanvi members of the SGPC arent as corrupt as badal. they may be in it for themselves only, knowing this is a way to show off their leaderi.

There are pros and cons on both sides, I only hope whatever comes out of it, will include the opportunity for the panth to grow stronger.

Without commenting on whether the creation of Haryana SGPC is good or bad, I think that Badal is wrong that the elected members of Harayana Assembley cannot propose the formation of HSGPC. The SGPC itself was created by an act of Parliament, meaning it was created by those who had in them vested the right to make laws. That right is now vested in State Assemblies and Parliament. If a significantly large group of people is able to convince the law makers to pass a bill, it is not considered an uninvited interference. The DGMC and SGPC were also created that manner. These committees all are interferences of State invited by the Sikhs into their own affairs instead of forming their own body independent of State.

So, for Badal to say this is an interference by the party that controls Haryana Assembly is not correct. But more important issue to look at now is how this situation got created that has now divided the community . Badal Akali Dal has a lot to do in this regard. See the statement of Jathedar Ranjit Singh ( Ex Jathedar of Akal Takht) on this issue. This appeared in the Pehredar newspaper on July 9,2014

SGPC was created by our Buzurgs. It is the inheritance of every Sikh. Just because some Chors (Badal) have temporarily taken control of our inheritance does not mean we destroy this priceless inheritance. The disgruntled Sikh politicians in Haryana who are creating this are congress assets. In the last SGPC elections, they were in the same camp as the corrupt Sarna group.

It would be one thing say if the men who are creating the HSGPC were really Sache Gursikhs like the Akalis of the 1920s or the DDT Singhs of Dharm Yudh Morcha, but that's not the case here. This is just a case of one group of self serving politicians(backed by Congress) fighting against another group of self serving politicians(Akalis). And the victim of this political game are the Sikh Qaum whose inheritance will be divided between rival groups of Chors. Where as before we had to fight against only one group of Luteray, now we have to fight against two different groups of Luteray
