Who needs charity and who does charity? Who knows? Charity is a myth except some people like Bhagat Puran Singh ji or mother Tresa ji who dedicated their whole life and done it with their own hands. They never went around asking for money or travelled in big flashy cars.

Dasvand - should it be given to a charity/trust or your local guru ghar and your job is over?

Or you help the needy with your dasvand? I think we are making a big mistake by trusting someone else with our dasvand.

It's lazy and morally incorrect.

There is a difference between Compassion (Daya), Charity (Daan) & Duty (Dasvand).

For example if someone is giving advice on forum then it is out of compassion.

If someone is paying for the forum running cost it is compassion+charity.

But Dasvand is Guru Sahib's Hukum. Can't spent that amount as we wish it has to go through or approved by Guru ji.

Bhagat Puran Singh ji & Mother Teressa ji had more faith in Almighty compared to their contemporary's.

Do we know each and every person involved in putting food on our plate ie farmer, supplier, super market ?

We are just concerned with food in our plate & not the process how it got there.

Similarly only organisers know the cost & how to manage such big events.

If you see the video at http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/74823-parkash-the-spiritual-journey-conitnues/

The cost of the event is 100k, Nanaksar Thath Isher Darbar has 16 schools, Thaths, cow shelters etc worldwide and the annual cost of maintenance is 24 million pounds.

They have also undertaken to build 100 room residential complex for Gurdwara Sevadaars at Gurdwara Mata Sundari ji in Delhi.

So it's like taking funds from those who can afford & giving it to those who can't.

Please note that the cost cannot be 100k. And who appointed the so called god man to decide what and where things need to be done. What is there "taan" sewa? Is that just travelling around in big cars and jumbo jets at the expense of money from charity? There are millions of cows who are not in their deras. What about them?

Who told you there budget is 24 million? Have you seen all the papers? What do they earn and where do they spend? Bhaji, daas knows some charities because I wAs involved in there accounting work. They make fool of the public to fund their own life style. And still you see people double their age falling into their feet.

"Change what you can, Accept what you can't"

I assume you don't have a lot of experience in Accounting Profession.

It is a common business practice to prepare 3 sets of Financial Accounts.

First for company, second for Bank & last for Govt.

Those who don't fund political campaigns are the ones who pay penalty, others don't.
