Today, the SOPW team along with Jagtar Singh Hawra’s sister and brother in law, visited Hawara in Tihar Jail. On the previous visit last month, Jagtar Singh was brought out in a wheelchair but today the visitors were left numbed when they saw him being carried out on a stretcher. Jagtar Singh informed them that as of yesterday he has been admitted to the hospital wing of Tihar Jail, although in the evening he was brought back to sleep in his cell. You may recall that Parminder Singh (SOPW India team), announced the deterioration of Hawara’s health to the wider public after last month’s visit. Since then, the Sangat and various other organisations have been campaigning for Hawara’s basic human right to be seen by a doctor and to receive the medical care he needs. It is worth noting that Jagtar Singh became the victim of relentless torture upon his arrest and for the 19+ years since then, he has been kept in harsh prison conditions, including solitary confinement in a cell which can be best described as a box. The mental and physical pain has taken its toll resulting in a slipped disc in Jagtar Singh’s spine and he is in unbearable pain. The jail authorities did not act on Hawara’s pleas for medical attention and for the past few months they have masked the situation by giving him pain killers.

While the SOPW team visited Jagtar Singh Hawara at Tihar, the Delhi High Court of Judge Mukta, has ordered that Hawara’s treatment begin without delay at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). KTS Tulsi and Maninder Singh were the lawyers present on behalf of Hawara. ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ 11 ਜੁਲਾਈ – ਤਿਹਾਰ ਜੇਲ ਜਦ SOPW ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ, ਸਾਡੀ ਟੀਮ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਥ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਜਾ ਜੀ ਹੈਰਾਣ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਜਦ ਭਾਈ ਹਵਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੇੜੀ ਤੇ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਖਿਆਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਗਾ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਹੀ SOPW ਦੇ ਪਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਖਵਰ ਦਿਤੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਭਾਈ ਹਵਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਫੀ ਤੱਕਲੀਫ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਉਦਰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੀ ਹਾਈਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਭਾਈ ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਦੇ ਕੇਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਫੋਰੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਆਲ ਇੰਡੀਆਂ ਇੰਸਟੀਟੀਉਟ ਆਫ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਸਾਇੰਸ (ਏਮਸ) ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸਟੇਟ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਈਆਂ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਤਿਹਾੜ ਜੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਦ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦੋ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਜ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਰੀੜ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਕੌਰਟ ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿਧ ਵਕੀਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨਾਲ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਰਤਨੀ ਜਥਾ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖੀ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦਸਿਆਂ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਦਾ ਏਮਸ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਤਿਹਾੜ ਜੇਲ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਨਾਲਇਕੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਦੋ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਉਹ ਭਾਈ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਰਕ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ. ਕੇ ਟੀ. ਐਸ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਫੀਸ ਲਏ ਮੱਨੁਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਧਾਰ ਬਣਾਕੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਕੇਸ ਤੇ ਆਏ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਸ. ਤੁਲਸੀ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ।
