Curfew Clamped In Saharanpur After Clashes, Arson

Saharanpur is in the NW part of UP. In olden times it was known as Rohilkhand. The Muslims of this area are the descendants of Rohillas who acted as the 5th column during Abdali's invasion in India during the battle of Panipat. When Sikh misls ruled over Punjab, they also began to carry out raids in Rohilkhand and repeatedly pounded these Rohillas like no one else could have. Saharanpur was under the Shahid Misl before the British took it under their control

During Maharaja Ranjit Singh's era, a fanatic from Rohilkhand named Syed Ahmad Barelvi and his followers which included Shah Ismail who was the grandson of a great Islamic scholar Shah WalliUllah (who had invited Abdali to invade India to restore Islamic rule) came to NW frontier to incite the Pathans of Yusafzai tribe to conduct a Jihad against the Sikhs, their plan was the overthrow Sikh rule and replace it with Islamic rule. These guys were heavily influenced by Wahabis of Najd when they had gone to Arabia for a Hajj. For a while they had implemented strict Sharia Law in Peshawar and had even destroyed Sufi Dargas. They were like the ISIS/Taliban of that era. But they would never fight the Sikhs in a open battle. They would always run away when Sikhs would come. Eventually the Sikhs intercepted them at Balakot where they met their doom. These descendants of the Rohillas have probably not forgotten the pounding their ancestors received at the hands of Sikhs of olden times and are ever ready to riot against the Sikhs.

As for some here saying Sikhs are now weak. It's not weakness, but the Sikhs don't retaliate instantly. In March 1947. when the Muslims of Pothohar had began killing Sikhs, the Sikhs did not retaliate then and this emboldened the Muslims of Punjab into thinking that Sikhs had grown weak and can no longer retaliate, and so the Muslims continued with their violence. When the Sikh retaliation did eventually come during the summer of 1947, they ended up killing double the amount of Muslims. It's sad so many people had to die. But had the Sikhs retaliated in March when they began killing Sikhs, as the Hindus had done in Calcutta during direct action day then maybe a million people would not have died in Punjab on both sides of the border.

Very old but true saying is, Hindus prepare for the storm before it comes, Muslims prepare when it comes and Sikhs prepare after the storm has passed. And unfortunately for us this is true. Even though Guru Gobind Singh Jee had given hukam to Sikhs to always be tyar bar tyar, but Sikhs are never battle ready when the battle happens. Riots of 1947, 1984 and even the Sacha Sauda riots and now Saharanpur riots are all proof of this.

The Rohillas and other Pathans are not that great in number. Most of the Muslims of western UP are Julahas, Qasabs, Mochis and other lower castes. The Peerzadas of this area were well know fanatics during the Mughal times and they used to openly slaughter cattle in main squares of the times as a challenge to the Hindus. Banda Singh Bahadur invaded this area when some local converts to Sikhism had been imprisoned by the local faujdar. He was joined in the invasion by the local Hindu Gujjars and they laid waste the whole area and only the heavy rainfall forced Banda Singh to raise his siege of Jalalabad although he was successful in killing and expelling the Peerzadas from the area.

This has happened despite the locals acknowledging Sikhs have never shown predjudice to the local people's children ... I feel that it is yet again outsiders shipped in to make trouble by scheming Masood

A riot broke out in Saharanpur among Sikhs and Muslims over a land dispute issue near the local Gurdwara on July 26th, 2014.

There has been 2 deaths and 19 injuries so far. Curfew has been imposed in the area.

Every time I read a news article in which Sikh groups say their "feelings were hurt" or that the others "hurt our sentiments" I just cringe and can read no more.

We need to tell our Sikh leaders to stop using these terms. We need to educate them as to what these English language terms imply in the English language. They need to understand how, in the English language, these terms imply a contexxt of immature children with very fragile feelings. Not what you expect from adults and warriors.

Say it like it is. Hate Crimes committed by Muslims against Sikhs. Enough of this childish language.

Another factor in this issue is that the Gurdwara runs a number of schools in the area where a majority of students are Muslims. The Gurdwara committee needs to rethink their acts of charity and now refocus on the Sikhs rather than educate a community of ungrateful Muslims. The committee should be looking after the poorer sections of the Sikh community such as the Banjaras, Ramaiyas or the converted former Hindu chamars who became Sikhs in the late 80s. Why not educate them rather than the Muslims.

True, it seems Sikhs always learn the hard way. They always try to appease these UP Bhayya Muslims but only to end up regretting it after words. Like look at these foolish Sikhs here acting like a bunch of dimmis:

Or look at this picture in which Sikhs allowed these Bhayya Muslims to perform Eid prayers in a Gurdwara in Uttarakhand!!!

Our people have seriously lost the plot. They should be spending their money on parchar, poor Sikhs, educating the Sikhs instead of tripping over each other to appease Poorbia Muslims and acting like Choli Chuks. Sikhs in 1857 were not this politically correct and beat the crap out of these poorbia Muslims, especially the ones located in west UP. Hopefully the recent Saharanpur riots was a wake up call for Sikhs and they will finally start acting like Shers like their ancestors instead of appeasers.

Some idiots like this guy will never wake up no matter how many attacks the Muslims launch on Sikhs.

Why did the fool not spend the money to help his fellow Sikhs who had had their shops and businesses looted by the muslay instead of paying his muslim workers a bonus because they managed to starve themselves for a month

But had the Sikhs retaliated in March when they began killing Sikhs, as the Hindus had done in Calcutta during direct action day then maybe a million people would not have died in Punjab on both sides of the border.

The hindus only fought back after the SIkhs took the intiative and forefront in fighting back against the marauders.

Interviews with the Sikh victims in the media continue to show how well planned this incident was. The victims state that the Police when called ignored the pleas of the Sikhs and said they had no orders to intervene. You would have thought the largely Hindu Police would have opened fire with out hesitation on Muslims. The rioters also had material to set fire to shops already prepared, similar to 1984. The victims also state that this was a conspiracy to set minorities on one another.

It is a city of muslims, I'm not sure the police would be largely hindu, but even if they were, in india the politicians control the police.

But what was the majboori of a mob of tens of thousands of Indian Muslims who rioted against Sikhs and this after the way SFJ tried to show good will by fighting for Muslim victims of 2002 Gujarat riots which has nothing to do with us. Then During 2002 riots, Sikhs were sending trucks of food for Muslim riot victims. Sikhs need to keep their nose out of other people's business because Indian Muslims will never appreciate any of these good will gestures. We need to read and learn from history instead of learning from practical expereince when we get Dhokha from the people we help

exactly, they are either completely brain dead animals, who are ready to attack anyone and everyone, or they knew exactly what they were doing, As I said before, Quid-pro-quo.

Another factor in this issue is that the Gurdwara runs a number of schools in the area where a majority of students are Muslims. The Gurdwara committee needs to rethink their acts of charity and now refocus on the Sikhs rather than educate a community of ungrateful Muslims. I would like to see this happen, but it has to be remembered that in a city of 450,000 muslims, and 7000 Sikhs, there may be a strong possibility that the muslims are the main customers of some sikh businesses, in which case, it may be hard to do this without repercussions. If it is not, then definitely the Sikhs should rethink their strategy of interaction with them. I wonder if the Sikh schools teach gurmat and sikh principles/history in their schools.

in a quote from the link you have given, some muslim guy said " the land dispute that triggered the violence was between the Guru Singh Sabha and former councillor Moharram Ali Pappu, and not a Sikh-Muslim conflict." It beggars belief that so many thousands of muslims could gather to attack the gurdwara if it was between this ali pappu guy and the SIngh Sabha. What a liar. Simply, it came down to momins and kaffirs.

All said and done, the next step should be to try and help our fellow Sikhs who have been hit, both physically and financially. This is the time to use our Dasvand for their seva, whatever bit we can do to help them at this point to come back on their feet and not have to become dependent. It was very much hurting to see them financially devastated. One was a Sikh who had moved back from Manchester, UK and started a tire business less than an year ago, his shop was raised to the ground.

I will be honest, it was quite painful to see Sikh men and women in fear and literally begging for security, especially when deep down in your heart you see the Khalsa as the protector of the weak. But lets be honest, any human being, who for no fault of his/her, is all of a sudden attacked in his/her home and has his/her business set on fire, he/she would react the same way.

There is a video on Youtube where Zee News has investigated this matter and claimed that this was pre-planned, based on the fact that (a.) the cops refused to assist the Sikhs saying they had no orders to help, and (b.) the fire department office was set on fire prior to burning the shops, thus ensuring that no one could help the Sikhs by putting out the fires.

Then there is another where a Singh threatens retaliation:

By the way, about 2 weeks ago in Boston we had Sikhs protesting against Israel for killing Palestinians, and few days ago we saw Sikhs start a petition asking President Obama to refuse Modi entry into US as he was responsible for the massacre of 3000 Muslims in Gujarat. I have already seen a number of opinions and videos on Facebook claiming these Saharanpur clashes to be a conspiracy hatched by the Hindutva forces.

Either we are still not aware as to who our real friends and real enemies are, or we fail to categorize who is our worst enemy, i.e. on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst enemy, where would you place Hindus and where would you place Muslims?

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
