weapons without training are as good as nothing in the least or can be turned on the unskilled holder at the worst. I think hand to hand drills and martial arts training should be a part of every Gurdwara.

This is the action we need. Good recomendation.

Why do we need to bother whether this taksal or that taksal or whatever Sikh organisation to pull their fingers out. The aam janta Sikh needs to organise themselves, what is stopping them setting up their own defence forces.

So that means aam janta of Sikhs from Saharanpur is not allowed to get help from Sikhs who are not from Saharanpur?

Didn't know it was wrong for people to help their own folks. I guess when Sacha Sauda riots broke out and Sacha Sauda followers began beating up Sikhs near the border of Haryana, then it was wrong for Sikhs all over Punjab(particularly Taksal Singhs who played a leading role) who were not from that particular district to descend there and beat back the Sacha Sauda henchmen and take the war back to Sirsa.

You and Ranjeet both have valid points, but the way forward surely would be for local sikhs/sikhs affected to mobilise/be ready to mobilise, and for backup to be ready whenever and wherever they are called.

This was the method of the Akalis, before 1947.

During the olden times(1700s) I read somewhere that every Sikh village was organised to defend themselves from an external enemy. When an enemy attack happened, one Sikh would start to make sound from the Nagara which would then result in all the fighting men of the village to leave what they were doing and get ready. This was a time when Sikhs were truly Tyar bar Tyar at all times. We have come a long way from those times.

You have misunderstood what I have said, of course the Sikhs of Saharanpur should get help from other Sikhs. What bothers me is the waiting for approval from our Sikh institutions.

These places are bogged down by politics and buerocracy.

No one needs anyone's approval to help. But what we need is Sikhs should be able to come and help their brothers in need in such a situation. Sikhs are a small small minority in India. Even less than 2% now. We are like a drop in the ocean. In such a situation, Sikhs need to be highly organised because a prosperous minority like us is especially a target for bigger communities.

None of the main ring leaders have been arrested, the authorities including the BJP , the Badal Akalis and their Sant Samaj allies seem bothered about the Sikhs. SOPW have gonevto help , not aware of any others. Agreed we need to have our own defence , but the Govt arrests and gives long jail sentences to any Sikh who stands up for their rights. Singhs have been jailed for 10 years yesterday for standing up to a Sadh who insulted the Guru Sahibs.

Sorry to say, but Dal Khalsa has acted cowardly and went(without any invitation) to their Masjid and gave them sweets during Eid to show them that the aggression their community showed the small Sikh minority in Saharanpur does not matter to them because Dal Khalsa wants their friendship more than anything.

Here is the link to the sharmnaak act of Dal khalsa, http://www.sikh24.com/2014/07/30/sikhs-visit-jama-masjid-in-amritsar-to-greet-muslims-on-eid/#.U9z48PldXwh

And it's not surprising that Dal Khalsa has done something so cowardly, from where will they get Bir Rass when they have disowned such magnificent Bir Rassi Bani of Dasam Guru Jee.

What Sikhs need is Ajnala Singhs and other Rehitvaan Sikh organisation to spread their Taksals all over UP, MP, Delhi, Rajasthan to increase religiosity among Sikhs because a religiously observant Sikh nation is a strong one until then we will continue being bullied by sometimes the poorbia Hindus and Muslims of UP/Bihar

Other Rehitvaan Sikh like ? Ajnala Taksaal and Sikh Youth Federation Bhindanwale is best .

It is possible to form a pressure group to resist the oppression of the Sikhs . The AAP party came from nowhere ,we need a Sikh organization that is truly committed to defend the community. The Sikhs allied to the Congress or BJP have let the Panth down badly.

AAP came out of nowhere and made a big impact because it was able to gain the support of the Panthic vote by choosing candidates that were professionals and not tainted by corruption and the dirty politics of the Akali-BJP-Congress parties. What the Panthic leaders or those who wish to serve the Panth is to join this party and turn it into a Punjab centric party. AAP got nowhere in the rest of India apart from the Delhi Assembly elections. In Delhi they lost momentum in the Lok Sabha elections. The Panthic votebank has been waiting for a party that can truly take on the Akalis and the Congress and can seriously become a contender for forming the next government in Punjab. Simranjeet Singh Mann was a hope once but he destroyed his chances by aligning himself with the same Akali leaders who had been rejected by the people in 1989. AAP has kept it's chances of keeping the Panthic vote by putting forward Professor Baljinder Kaur whose chacha was a Babbar Khalsa kharkoo who was martyred in the 90s as a candidate from the Talwandi Sabo assembly byelection this month. I would urge anyone who has relatives in the constituency to do their but and make sure that they vote for her and let us send those whose families sacrificed for the Panth into power and not those who have lost no opportunity to betray the Panth.
