Maybe she has it in her pocket? They may have been recording this performance for an album, and any accidental noise could effect the recording.(like the Kara hitting the vaja). We don't really know, but why does it matter to us?

Even if she choses not to wear one, what difference does that make for you and me? Live and let live.

The sangat has the authority to scrutinise those parcharaks who sit at the guru stage and do parchar. Nevertheless the white America Sikhs have a very distorted interpretation of orthodox Sikhism. The way things are going we will be like Christians with many denominations, Akj 3ho namdhari to name but a few

There are a few white american Sikhs that practice authentic orthodox Sikhism for example gursant singh he is very proactive against 3HO type fake Sikhs. And always exposing them in his websites, facebook and youtube videos.

The founder of SikhNet is from jewish heritage, not a bad thing but he has been raised by yogi bhajans hippy nutty ideology and not authentic Sikh core beliefs. If it came down to a war for Sikhi these type of Sikhs will run away or convert to another faith they would not fight with arms and proclaim proudly they willing to die for Sikhi.

This is when we know a community is true Sikhs or fake when they willing to fight and lay their lives for defence of the faith against non-sikh aggressor forces.

Who is a true Sikh? Who is a fake?

When you go to the Gurudwara today look around you, see all the 'True' Sikhs in their bana and long beards? Of the thousands that will attend gurdwara today, if you are lucky you may find one 'true' Sikh, and he/she wont be the one with the biggest damalla or bluest bana, he/she will be the quite one sat right at the back with genuine true love for his/her Guru.

A Sikh is a Sikh. Why distinguish between white and none white? If a gora becomes a Sikh, is he/she not a Sikh? or do we have to create another partition and call them 'White' Sikhs?

We have already entrenched ourselves in Jat Sikh and Takhan Sikh and Bhattra Sikh, now we create a new 'White' Sikh category. Are we not to marry into them a well?

Sanatam Kaur, whatever you think of her, performs beautiful kirtan, she does naam simran, look within ourselves can we say the same. Does she not have the same jyote of Akaal Purkh in her? So why the hate?

Look within yourselves, are we 'True' Sikhs? Just because we are dark coloured does that make us more authentic Sikhs? Will a 'white' Sikh always be inferior to a 'True' dark Sikh?

Look around, most Sikhs are fat, full of cholesterol, diabetic with huge fat stomachs after a lifelong of parathay and beer, will they fight for Sikhi?

You criticize the 'white' Sikhs , yet they are far more into sikhi then the majority of 'true' Sikhs who you see in the gurdwara . We ourselves have shrunk Sikhi to such an extent that only punjabies can become Sikhs? Is this why Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelled to all points on the compass? so that we could shrink His sikhi? Rather then embrace ne blood into the fold, and if they have different practices then engage with them and show them the path, not condemn them.

Point that finger at yourself, see your own shortcomings and improve them, your naam simran will go with you, nothing else.

This is not issue of 'White' Sikh or Punjabi Sikh or 'Black' Sikh. This is an issue of core beliefs and fundamentals of Sikhi.

Didnt take long before a hippy came to defence of another hippy neglecting what stance our Guru's and gurbani takes against idol worship and other things they rejected or did not par take in because Sikhi is a different and unique spiritual path.

A Sikh follows the Guru's path not makes up their own as they go along adding new age, buddhist and hindu rituals and religious beliefs as part of their lifestyle set up that is what you call a fake sikh.

So how come you are calling them 'White' Sikhs? why the distinction? Did Guru Ji make any distinctions? Did He not have a sevek in Bhai Mardana and Bhai Balla?

Instead of seeing the jyote of Akaal Purkh in all you first see a 'White' Sikh, a 'Hippy'. Is this what Guru Ji taught you? Haumai has a very sneaky way of getting in the way, even naam simran abhiasi folk fall prey to haumai, we are not even that. You are very quick to judge and fall at the first step. Gurbani says 'You (O Lord) are the fish, You are the fisherman' - then who is in the wrong?

Guru Ji says "You (O Lord) start the arguments and then you assist to sort them out" (Shastar Naam Mala)- then who is in the wrong? In the same bani Guru Ji says "You are Raam and you are Krishan" yet we so called 'True' Sikhs despise anything that has even a hint of Hinduism. Yet we fail to see that we are all one, there is no outsider, we are all linked, we are all children of the same father, but we bicker and quarrel never seeing the bigger picture. We are so quick to condemn when we ourselves have no spiritual level. If a dog pinched our roti would we not run after it in anger? Yet Bhagat Nandev ran after the dog with his other roti and butter, he saw what us fools cannot see, he saw akaal Purkh in the dog, " Maharaj, why are you only taking one roti please take this one as well and let me butter both of them" he said. Yet we would only see the dog.

Get off your high horses and be the dust. We shack amarit and wear our panj kakkars and we think we so high and mighty. This is just the first step, there are a thousand more to climb. We point fingers but know not what our own hearts are like - Anand Sahib Ji says - Bharo nirmal, jeeo mellay - we look pristine on the outside yet rotten on the inside. This is because we show how wonderful we are, yet we hold prejudice towards others, yet the same God we bow it is the same God residing in the persons we hate and He watches us.

We are all on a journey, some have progressed further then others, it is our duty to show the path to those behind us not get so full of huamai that is destroys us.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
